Thread: Review of Belly Dance Basics and Beyond by Jenna

I've tried 3-4 beginner technique dvds now, and though I've only had intermittent live classes, I've been able to go straight though them without a problems, however, I felt my skills were nowhere near intermediate. Not with this dvd!!! I absolutely love it! Jenna has a very clear teaching style, and the information she presents is broken down better than in most of the live classes I've taken! She is always reminding about posture, too! :) I'll definitely be able to break the info taught into challenging, productive practices and drills!

This was the first instructional DVD I purchased when I started dancing. It's great! I still use it because it has so much information, I haven't mastered yet. Highly recommended!

Me too. I don't use it so much now - but revisit whenever I think I need a real refresher. The ten minute drills at the end are excellent

i recently asked jenna about a "full practice session with jenna". in the 1,5 hour part without music, she teaches SOO many variations she cannot possibly deal witht hem all in the beautiful 30 or 40 min practice session with music.

I d love if she made a really long practice session with music including all of the variations, plus level changes, plus pace changes..
she seemed pretty interested in the idea, let s keep our fingers crossed she ll do it!!!!
would be a perfect supplementary tool!!

It's the best beginner DVD out there, IMO. I recommend it to my students as a home practice companion to classes.

I've had this dvd for some time and forgot about it.

I fished it out again this week after reading this thread and have really been inspired by many of her moves and the choreos. Am going to work on it ....no more forgetting about it!
