Thread: Star Power! Stage Presence & Pizzazz with Amaya

I recently got a copy of IAMED's Star Power -Stage Presence and Pizzazz with Amaya. It's not the usual instructional DVD, instead of teaching moves, it shows you how to use your space on stage, how to direct energy and how to add interest to your performance. Those little things that really kick your performance up a notch.

I wish I had had this when I started dancing twenty years ago, I'd be a better dancer today. Some of the things Amaya teaches I have picked up through the years from different teachers, others are new. You can bet that I'll be using a lot of what I learned from this DVD in my next performance.

What timing change? What do you mean? I'm curious.

It is very basic...but brilliant. She has demonstrated this in person to me and others in several workshops. In a piece of music that tends to have the same timing thru out as a lot of her Spanish Gitano music does, she will change her timing. Sometimes stressing the one..other times the 3 or 5 of an 8 count beat. She will double time it, and then half time and ocassionally hold a pose for a full 8 counts. She will vary her focal points and her energy . I really recommend this DVD.
