Thread: Anyone order from Dharma Trading

I was checking out the cheapo silk veils and thought they would be great for introducing silk veils to students.

What do you think of the quality vs price?
What size would be best for students?

Anything else I should know?

I haven't bought their premade veils, but I have bought yardage, garments, and dye from them for over a decade. They are great.

I don't see any reason why their silk veils wouldn't be great for your students. I start students using 45" X 3 yard veils (only exception has been a very petite lady under 5" -- we trimmed one to about 40" X 3 yards for her so it wouldn't drag the floor).

I've never ordered from Dharma Trading but I have only heard good things about them, from both people I know in "real life" who have ordered from them (i was a fiber arts major in college) and people online who have ordered from them.

I've purchased from them several times - nothing but good things to say about them. Good quality, reasonable prices and great service. Most recently, I purchased a 5mm veil and some silk hankies to experiment with. All were great.

I bought 10 of the premade veils and dyed them - they were good quality for students and a great price. They aren't as nice as pro silk veils, but for a veil class or for students on a budget, they work great :)

I just bought a bolt of 8mm silk, the salvage was messy...like feathers almost. Their premade 5mm is nice, super light, good for students.

I buy them for my students... they like them and the best part is that they're not too expensive.

I've never bought premade veils from them, but I did buy their silk paints and smaller premade items for jewelry making for many years in their Marin store when I lived there .... I was always happy with the quality.

I bought a 5mm veil and dye from them a couple of months ago and was very happy with my purchases.

One word of caution, though--a white silk veil doesn't need much time in the dye bath to pick up a good color. My supposed-to-be mossy green veil is instead more of a dark pine green, though it still matches the outfit it was being made for.
