Thread: Susu Pampanin has a finger cymbal video out!

I literally just got this email. Full disclaimers here...I had no idea this was even in the works! While I have had the fortune of working with Susu from very early on in my dance career, and she was also my drum teacher for a while, I am also just a big fan of her drum playing and her style. I also looove finger cymbals. :)

I have not seen the DVD, but hope to soon. Please review it here if you get a chance to watch it.

Susu Pampanin has been studying Middle Eastern drumming since the age of 12 and Zaina Zahesha (TerriAnne) has been studying Middle Eastern dance since the age of 15. Over the last nine years they have given performances and workshops together to thrilled and enthusiastic audiences all over the world. They both live, teach and perform in the San francisco Bay Area of California.

In this simple and easy to follow DVD you will join Susu and Zaina (TerriAnne) as they demonstrate the basic technique for playing Zills. You will enjoy clear and percise instruction on how to play 12 of the most important rhythms every belly dancer and Middle Eastern musician should know. Over head shots, slow motion, and written patterns appearing on screen enables the student to lean each of the patterns with ease and confidence. In addition, they give you 3 basic patterns that can be played to all rhythms.

Charts for the 15 zill patterns every belly dancer should know. Blank pages for notes and songs that you can list as you learn to identify them.

rhythms Drill
Susu Pampanin plays 12 of the MUST KNOW Middle Eastern Rhythms ever belly dancer and Middle Eastern musician should know. Each rhythm is played slow with a single drum for 4 to 5 minutes so that you can practice your drills on any percussion instrument (including zills).

I see a price for the workbook and the CD, but no price for the DVD. Am I just missing it?

I just sent them an e-mail through the website asking when the DVD would be available for purchase, but it bounced back to me saying that the e-mail was no longer available.

Dang, Terri Anne is fast! I dropped her a line, and she just wrote back saying they were not aware of the problem and fixed it. Thanks to you all for noticing!

How cool. I took her workshop a few years back on finger cymbals - fantastic!
