Thread: never say never -ariellah

i dont really like tribal fusion that much.

BUT

I now own a tribal fusion dvd that i like and will do more than once.

I had it for a year but used it for the first time now (which means i have to say thank you michelle joyce, i was kind of giggling about your thread first, but hallelujah, it works)

why i like it
- ariellah has a very pleasant non annoying voice (sometimes hard with dvds with voice overs, sometimes my boyfriend yells from the study, "turn that down, she's annoying", well i dont think he will with this one. I like her voice)
- she explains so clearly that i can actually just folowing along the yoga warm up and cool down without having to look up/behind me etc, while already in an akward angle/pose. i could follow along without needing to pauze, rewind to figure out what the hell was going on there, i could just follow the flow, loved it.
- the background music is beautifull and non annoying. i love the extensive music credits so i can, look up the one song i really liked.
- it's a really nice yoga series, right lengths, right poses. i really liked the way possible variations came up as an on screen extra screen (kind of like when they do translations for the deaf, in an extra screen). brilliant idea.

havent done the drill section and might end up hating that bit, i dont know yet, but it was worth the purchase just for the yoga but, am keeping the dvd near the dvd player and will try to make myself use it as a post teaching stretch/cooldown more often.

I have this dvd & had the extreme pleasure of taking a workshop from her in person at Northern Lights 2008 (Wisconsin Dells:)). She's a wonderful, creative encouraging instructor; had been on the fence about tribal fusion (definitely categorize myself as cab) but she's made me want to delve more into t.f. And thanks to the 90-day program I have a week of tribal fusion studies scheduled in, albeit towards the end of the timeframe.....l;,

I also have this dvd and was lucky enough to have a workshop with Ariellah back in September ( NYC ). I wish she lived on the east coast so that I could take more workshops with her. I loved the drills on the dvd, especially the arm section. You'll get some burn from those. I noticed during the workshop that Ariellah was working so hard that her upper arms were very red from all the heat she was generating with her teaching.

Love the drills - the "music" is a bit weird though. I too am not a tribal gal so don't remember why I got it but am glad I did. I think cos I got some beginner cabaret that I couldn't do so wanted to go to basic hard drills - which it certainly has

I found a video on You Tube about this DVD a few months ago & remember adding it to my favorites, so I'd remember to buy it at some point :) It looks like a really nice DVD to work with!

Thank you for your review! I am a big fan of Ariellah's work, but not a tribal gal myself, so I was wondering if this would be interesting/helpful to a nontribal dancer.

the boyfriend last night confirmed that she's non annoying, so this is on the low pile of dvds i can do while he is in the house. i started on the drilling bit too last night, and enjoyed it as well. i dont dance tribal style, but it's as good a muscle workout as any.

Reviving this old thread to let everyone know that Ariellah will be headlining at the 2011 Las Vegas Bellydance Intensive & Festival, Sept. 8-11, 2011. Registration will open on site at the 2010 event next week, and online registration will open on 9/15/2010 with 12 month payment plans available.
