Thread: Improvisational DVD, yeah! By Nadira Jamal

I'm excited about this! I remember listening to her podcasts and watching her video podcasts as well. I know she mentioned a DVD, but I never thought I would see it on Amazon! When I can afford it later in February, this is definitely on my list.

I haven't seen it yet, but I have met Nadira and seen her dance live. She is incredibly talented and a really sweet and kind person. I definitely want to get this DVD when I have some money, I'm sure its great.

I'm shooting the next volume in a week and a half, so if everything goes according to plan (fingers crossed), it could be available by late March.

Nadira, thank you for this DVD. As I said...no fancy triple time combos, no killer new moves with legs akimbo, just good methodology for organizing you most important dance muscle...your brain!

Volume 2 *should* be available for 3/28. I definitely expect pre-ordering to be open by then, unless something disastrous happens.

I would be honored...but check my spelling!!!! And you can substitute organizing for strengthening if you want...

Did you ever get this DVD? If so do you like it? I was thinking about buying it.

Hey since this has been resurrected, I'll throw in my thoughts.

I do think you should buy it! It's a great tool I love the exercises in it. They have a lot of repeat value. I also think Jamal is an approachable and fun instructor who shares her knowledge in a way that's really accessible. Her system of move classification was new to me and the associated pen and paper exercises helped me to organize my dance thoughts better.

I really enjoyed this DVD and I think it contains a lot of really valuable information. I also plan to get the next two volumes once they come out (hint hint...haha)

I literally just got an update e-mail announcing that the second volume is coming out in February of 2010!

This DVD is great! I love Nadira; she explains everything so well and I really enjoy her teaching style. There is so much helpful stuff in here. Can't wait for the next one!
