Thread: Suhaila's new Hip Hop CD - Shake

I received my copy today, and it is great. I can see using it to teach and entertain and dance with. Besides her being a wonderful dancer she knows her stuff, and I recommend buying this cd. If your looking for something new and edgy this is it. Enjoy..g.:

this sounds good - can you tell some more on the music? a balanced in-between hip hop and arab music, or leaning towards one side?
good for isolation practice, or rather for choreography and more advanced training?
would you nice for other sports/workouts? (am always on the search for uplifting upbeat music for this purpose)

Yes I bought this at Suhaila site.
It has some arab music on it, and hip hop, I found it fun and edgy. My students enjoyed it, I used it in class to teach, and I can see using it for chorography. If you have heard Hizzy Hips, remix of a DJ, and I apologize I can't recall his name, it is a good one to compare to,

Sorry to be the voice of dissent, but I have to voice a counter-point.I'm glad to hear others are enjoying this CD, we all have different tastes & I don't mean to imply that the positive reviews are wrong.
I bought the CD and I don't care for it at all. My primary beef with it is that the vocal artist/MC sounds like late 80's/early 90's rap. Not good like LL Cool J, but just sort of bad & amateur-ish. I didn't care for the lyrics at all & was especially turned off when one track included lyrics about thongs and what not. Maybe I'm a hip-hop snob, but honestly I would have been embarrassed to dance to most of that CD in front of a true hip-hop audience.
I was glad to see that most of the tracks had an instrumental version on the cd, but the instrumentation sounded a lot like the driving techno-belly music on cds like bellyformance and percumania. I was hoping for deeper beats & something more hip-hop sounding.
Its too bad that suhaila's on-line site doesn't let you preview tracks before buying.
I also was unhappy that a $17.00 cd came in a chintzy paper case.
I got my CD on Friday, loaned it to a friend on Saturday, and as soon as I get it back I will be selling it on the swap for $15 plus shipping. PM me if you want to buy it & I won't even bother to post it on the swap meet.
