By Dancers For Dancers vol 2 a review
Hello everyone,
Last week Michelle offered a few free DVDs for a online review and I was lucky enough to get one. This is my first review and I hope I do ok with it.
I really like this DVD. The production quality is very good and professionaly done. The dancers and music are identified. There was only one performance that I did not care for and for me that is good. I have a few performance DVDs that there is nothing or 1 or 2 dancers that I like. I LOVE that there are several curvacious dancers and they are georgeous! It was refreshing to see fresh faces that I have not seen on other DVDs. I would say that the performances are mostly Egyptian and American Cabaret. Good solid dancing.
My favoriate dancers were Sa'diyya-wings and drum solo, Shoshanna-4 yard veil work, Adriana-veil and a drum solo on goblets and Ahava drum solo, man she can shimmy.
I highly recommend this DVD for the price and content I think it is a great DVD. There is a trailer on youtube with some of the dancers here

There are a few Bhuzers on the DVD, Ya'll did a great job! I'm thinking that I need to get vol. 1. ..g.:

Here is my in depth review part 1
My review of Dancers by dancer’s vol 2.
The Dancers by Dancers vol 2 is just as good if not better then volume 1. The only difference is that vol 2 is from a LIVE staged performance and there are more dancers. The stage has 5 cyclorama screens with lights changing on them for the background. Most of the time the background matched the dancers costume color. They also used a few gobos that were projected onto the back of the stage! This really brought out the stage! I loved the paisley gobo that was used!!!
Adriana’s performance was fun and enticing! She twirled around with her veil and then appeared these goblets in which she danced on them. 2 goblets for 1 foot and only 1 goblet on the other! They chose a background that really complimented Adriana’s performance and costume. I don’t know what it was but she stood out from the rest. It seems like there was more of a spotlight on her. Or it could be that I prefer blues and purples.
Ahava danced an amazing drum solo! I cannot tell you enough on how much, I love Ahava’s dancing. Her technique, stage presence and style are so Egyptian! She keeps you captivated. You cannot take your eyes off of her! She is wearing a burgundy “Eman Zaki” costume.
Luna performed to gypsy or Turkish song with her old style American cabaret. She is wearing a “Necklemans” costume in purple and gold. This costume was very flattering to her body type.
Michelle! She is energetic and she owns that stage. I really enjoy her stage presence. Every time I see her, she gets better and better. She is wearing a beautiful Bella costume. I can’t tell from the stage lighting if its red or burgundy.
Nadira is another beautiful Egyptian style dancer! I first saw her live a few years ago, and I was excited to see that she was on this DVD!! She really translates the music in her dance. Her technique is excellent! She is most likely wearing an “Eman Zaki” costume in gold. I hope I’m right!!
Nanna is another old style American cabaret dancer. I felt her performance was much better then Vol. 1. I think it was because of the LIVE audience! Nanna is wearing a do-it-yourself costume in gold and white.
Raqs Habibi is a trio of Monica, Jasmin and Shakira. They perform a sassy choreography! They end it in a pose of “monkey see, monkey do and monkey hear!” It’s nice to see a troupe performance on this DVD. They are wearing Egyptian made dresses in red, black and gold. Each of them is wearing a different style but same color motifs.
....to be continued because theres a limit on words in a post

part 2...
Sa’ddya from Texas! It was nice to see a dancer who is not a size 4! She was fun and I felt her energy! I couldn’t help but notice her smile. I loved her costume. It’s definitely an original! Did she make it??? It was an animal print with black accents. It has panels that help out visually with the movements of the hips.
Sandra is so graceful and well polished!!! I love her arms and hands! I really learn from her when I watch her dance. She’s got a radiant smile that draws you into her dance! She is also wearing a Bella costume in a red tone and gold!
Shanna has always captured me when she dances! She looks so beautiful with her long wavy red hair, especially since she is wearing an orange costume! In which it’s a “Pharonic of Egypt” costume. Shanna lip syncs to her song and I feel it is distracting to her performance. Other than that, I enjoyed her performance. I also liked her facial expressions.
Shoshanna is another one of my favorite dancers! She is so visually stunning with her dancing! Her veil work is phenomenal! Her spins are breathtaking! Need I say more? She is wearing an “Egyptian” made costume in beige, brown and gold!
Zaheea’s personality comes thru in her dance! She is so AMAZING. She’s got the facial expressions that I love to see in a dancer! She’s got the technique, poise, elegance and beauty that I love to see in a dancer! Zaheea is wearing a gorgeous red and gold “Bella” costume!
Zari has some dangerous curves going on!! She is wearing a gold mermaid style costume that could be a “Marta the legend” or a “Sim moda”. It really accentuates her curvaceous body! She dances to a more meaning full piece of music which she does a nice choreography to. I would have liked to have seen some facial expressions to emphasize the emotion in the song. I loved the ending because you can see those hips in action!
My critiques are…… The background was too close of a color to the dancers’ costume which sometimes made the dancer blend in with the background. I am not a lighting expert, and it could just be me not knowing or the producer’s goal of having more intimate lighting, but it would have been better if they used the spotlight on everyone.
So………You would like this DVD if you enjoy Cabaret style belly dance in various forms. You will like this DVD if you only like to spend less than $25 on performance DVD. You will love this DVD if you enjoy veil because almost everyone does veil.
You won’t like this DVD if you are into tribal, fusion, etc….style. You won’t like this DVD if you are superstitious because there are 13 dancers on the DVD.
I really like the price of this DVD and it is well worth it! Hopefully, this will set a new trend in performance DVD’s

I liked the first DVD a lot, but I liked this one even better! I think the live audience brought out the best in all the dancers. Standouts for me were Zari, Ahava, Nanna and to my surprise Adriana--not because I previously thought poorly of her or anything, but because I don't usually like stuff like dancing on goblets. However she made it look lovely and not gimmicky at all. Didn't hurt that it was one of my favorite pieces of music she danced to ..g.:
One of the things I liked the most about this DVD was seeing different dancers' different interpretations of the music. I really felt that each was unique in her approach to the music, even dancers who danced within the same style. It kept the show entertaining throughout and made me wish I could have been there in person to cheer everyone on

I won't review, because people have essentially said what I wanted to say (nice when that happens!) but can I tell you that I am in serious costume envy here?
Nadira's gold eman WILL be mine, the second she puts it up for sale, and Sandra's red bella, that's it! I NEED these costumes, otherwise I will continue to be incomplete ..l;,- A deeply desired goal gives context to present experience... M. Stanton Jones
