Thread: Any reviews on the new IAMED videos?

I can no longer afford IAMED videos, but I am curious to see reviews on the three new combo videos.

Me too...The preveiws on Youtube are just too short to tell.

Layers with Leyla looks nice though...

Anyone out there seen them?

Same here.. absolutely no money for the Combinations ones and Leyla's Layers. But I'm very interested in infos on them!

I only have Ultimate Combo's #5 and I love it. I posted this on Shira's bellydance videos yahoo group last week, I'll add it here with a few more comments.

I'm not very good at writing reviews so I'll leave that to someone else, but I
wanted to write my general impressions. I like #5 much better than volumes 1
and 2 (of which I didn't like at all). Some of the combo's are longer and seem to be more useful. I even like Ava Flemings combos, whose teaching style I normally don't care for. Katia has two combos as well, she is a great teacher, but I do not mesh with her style too much.

Jamileh is an excellent teacher, I wonder why she does not have her own line of instructional dvds, as she is that good! She has three very useable combos on this dvd that I have already added to my bank of combos. I hope to see her in more upcoming dvds.

And all the same goes for Aradia! I will buy anything and everything she puts
out. I swear she is a goddess! She has three combos on this dvd, however, the first one is very long (like 6 8-counts.... not sure how to say that). She is an excellent teacher and breaks everything down very well, which is something I need. I love, love, LOVE her!!!

Zahra Zuhair has two combos on this dvd. I especially like the second combo,
which is very simple and similar to her combos on her instructional dvd
"Magnificant Moves." They are short like the combos on the earlier dvds (Ultimate Combo 1 and 2).

My only complaint is that I wish it were a bit longer with more content for the
price. Maybe I am just spoiled with all of the excellent dvd's with Sadie and
Kaya, and that Michelle Joyce and Neon are producing these days..... It seemed a bit short. I noticed that Cheeky-Girl has their new dvd "Combo Nation" on Amazon right now. It's half the price and has twice as much material ($19 and 2-hours long). And you know anything/everything Michelle produces is going to be excellent.

Eshta - Have you seen any of Sadie's IAMED DVD's? They are the best! I also like Zahra Zuhair's "Magnificant Moves," Aziza's "Veil," and Tamra-henna's IAMED dvd a lot... Speaking of T-h, I hope they will release her second dvd this year. She is such an excellent teacher, who doesn't get enough credit imo.

I love Aziza, Zahra, Tamra Henna and also Artemis Murat's Turkish one. And of course everything by Sadie. These are the IAMEDs well worth the money.. the other ones are simply too expensive for the length.. they're still good, like many by Ava Fleming, but I'd rather not have spent that amount on them.
And a few were just sub-standard for me...

I have Sizzlin torso Which I discovered is far beyond where I wish to go. Diagonal camels anyone! Reminds me of preparatino for childbirth when I had to tense left arm and right leg and relax the rest!!! However, there are also chaptering and editing concerns for something that costs that much. The few bits of the dvd that I would do are very hard to find as the chapters are so long.

True. Chaptering is substandard particularly on the older IAMED ones.. I could not swear on how they did for last year's though.. maybe better.

she is awesome and i love her rhythms dvd
shes such a soft dancer and soooo skilled
i cant wait till her second dvd but i wont let myself buy it till i finish doing the combos from the first one

I do love the Tamra Henna and Zahra Zuhair DVDs from IAMED. I don't care for the Combinations (only have #1 and #2) because it's so hit or miss, depending on whether you like the instructor or not. I also had the Leyla shimmies dvds and thought they made for good practice.

I found this thread because I was hoping for a review of Leyla's Layers, whether it's worth the investment for an intermediate dancer.

I definitely do Romany, Classical Persian, love Hagalla, that's been my obsession for the last 5 years!!
I honestly wish Sahra, Aisha Ali and Morocco would do folklore instructionals!!! They are some of the people I've studied with, and they have a wealth of knowledge!!
