I just ordered it, can't wait...
the trailers are irresistible, the information is just so everything I need. I love that she talks about the music and how it influences the style (esp. trailer of modern egyptian).
Classical Egyptian isn't ready yet for shipping, yet I bought the whole set plus international shipping for an amazing price directly from her. So much value!
With this material I guess I've chosen my guru for at least a year...,r:;..g.:

The beledi one is fantastic. So much information on it. You will learn so much from that set alone. Ranya is a great teacher and a really fun person to met. Luckily, being in CT, she's been up numerous times for workshops. If you ever get the chance to study with her in person, do that as well.

I LOOOVE her baladi and modern one.
I bought them for normal price I think but got a LOVELY performance dvd (Hookah Lounge), and they were worth every cent.
I meant it when I posted on Neon's tribe half a year ago they should definitely charge us MORE for the 2dvd set.
I almost feel bad having 5 hours of the most amazing Egyptian baladi instruction for 25$.
Amazing outstanding value for the price.

Ranya's are my top favorite dvds ever.

I agree that the 2-dvd set should be more, but the producers had already settled on the price before I realized just how much content there was to put on there! It's a kind of one-stop-shopping for beledi. :-) So there you go--enjoy!

FYI, also... the rest of the filming of Classical Oriental, as some of you may already know, has been delayed as the result of a fire in my apartment building. I'm still getting caught up with things, after having to move out of my place while they make repairs. I'm looking forward to completing the dvd as soon as the producers and I can arrange it, so that we can get it out into your hot little hands! :-D

Re: teleconferences -- I am planning to do more this summer, including one or two with Nabawy the accordionist. I would like recommendations as to what times are good for people to call in (calculate that in Eastern Time if you please!), so that I can find times that work best for the most people. This would be for teleconferencing as well as for a long-distance performance coaching group that I am planning to start, based on my successful format here in New York.

I am very sorry to hear about the fire in your apartment Ranya Renee. I hope everything is ok?!? I have been waiting for the new dvd, excitedly.

I got the Beledi set a few months ago and it is by far the best dvd I have gotten in a long time. Then I got the modern oriental one and although I am not big on choreography, I love love love the technique and warm up section. I do that once a week and then follow up with the beledi improv. Your style of teaching definitely speaks to me and works with how I dance. So keep em coming-I will buy them all!!! Was that a bit too guushy? who cares! Thanks Ranya Renee!

Got them. I'm already in the middle of learning the modern choreo...I like it, it's fast, tight accents but still there is some soft flow the modern Egyptian dancers seem to have abolished.
I'm not sure will I do those pointing fingers of Randa, but that's a matter of taste. I have a little time right now, so learning a new choreo is great!

I actually had to pee while practicing with it and in the posture section she makes an analogy of pretending that you holding in your pee to keep your pelvis intact in terms of posture. well i guess i realized how much i need to work on my posture from how many times i almost let go of my pee LOL

Sharifeh--it may be "TMI", but you are right that it is a good time to practice that exercise... when there is a strong motivation to do so! Not that people should "hold it" all day long or anything, but it does provide a good opportunity to focus on those muscles in a very conscious way.
