Thread: Your thoughts on Mario Kirlis CDs?

I was looking at the Mario Kirlis CDs available through an ebay vendor and I'm curious if they are any good, if so, which are the best ones and all that? Any of you have these CDs and can tell me a little about them?

Shems I don't have the CDs, but I have two DVDs in which his music is played whilst Saida dances. His music is great for bellydance. He is a brilliant musician.

His music is a bit westernized, to my ears. I don't know if it's the type of keyboard he plays, or what. That said, it's some very good music. I have two of his CDs, one is Sol Naciente, the other is one of his Musica Arabe Volumes - the one with "New Baladi" on it. I sought him out right after I saw Saida dance to "New Baladi" at the BDSS show in Dallas in 2006, and he graciously sent me the two CDs.

i only know 2 songs by him, the New Baladi i rather like, and then, Darigh Nour, which is very much more european to my ears, kinda a waltz. but i like it :) prolly wouldn't BD to it, but it's pleasant to listen to.
donno any other songs by him but definitely on my 'look up' list

I have lots of them, from emusic & itunes, and love his music, although I don't dance to it too often because it's pretty fused in terms of cultures... but i love the music.

I bought one of his CDs from a Bhuzzer once. I really didn't care for it; IIRC, it was too heavy on the synthesized music for my tastes, and all the songs sounded too much like each other. I listened to it once and resold it.
