Documentaries About Fairuz

In working on my web site this weekend, I stumbled accidentally on two documentary videos featuring the legendary Lebanese singer Fairuz. Both look interesting.

I put up video opinion polls on my web site for both of them, so if you've seen either one, please visit the poll and vote in it!

Here's the info:

Life Story of Fairouz

We Loved Each Other So Much

I've ordered both videos, but they haven't come yet, so I haven't seen them myself. I'm looking forward to watching both, because I really like the songs by Fairuz that I'm familiar with. She's on my list of artists I'd like to know more about!

If you think you'd like to buy the videos, please consider using the links from my poll pages above, because Amazon pays a (very) small commission to me for sales via the affiliate links on my pages, and that's what pays for the expenses of keeping Shira.net up and running.

Song Translations

For those of you who are fans of Fairuz music, I've recently added some translations of songs she recorded to Shira.net. All can be found at Arabic Songs Translated into English . Here are the songs:
  • Billadhi Askara. This one has actually been on my web site several years, but since I'm listing songs by Feiruz on my web site I'm including it for completeness' sake. This one is a muwashahah, what you might call an art song. Fairuz recorded a number of those during her career.
  • El Bint El Shalabia, Added to my site on Wednesday.
  • Nihna Wil Amar Jiraan. I love this song. It has also been recorded by John Bilezikjian and Raja. Beautiful piece of music. This too has been on my web site a long time, just mentioning it for completeness' sake.
  • Ya Ana, Ya Ana. Added to my site on Tuesday.
  • Ya Mayla al Ghousoune. Added to my site yesterday.
