Thread: upcoming 2 new dvds by Hannan Sultan!

Hi everybody,

So I have this friend who treasures her Hannan Sultan Vol 1 and 2 videos. After she worked with them lots, and swears by them, she gave them to me some time ago. I did not think I needed any more beginner dvds - but these are very nice indeed. Firstly it is always great to be able to continue to a number 2 by the same instructor, and relatively rare so far with excellent beginner dvds.
I will have to look into her dvds more, and work with them the upcoming days to give a short review of what she covers - but this friend was told by Hannan she will have two dvd releases soon:
One on arabesques and turns if I remember that correctly, and one on advanced abdominal work.

Does that not sound great????

Cool! I hope she already has them with her when she comes to Belgium in the end of february!

wow she's coming to your country!!! please let us know how they are if you get them. I am most curious about the abs work, but on the other hand I am very bad at arabesques :)

now I have not heard about that. since it's hearsay: who knows, the content of the two dvds may have been a misunderstanding. ,r:;

It's true! I have new DVDs available!!! I've just done a short run, full print to follow.

I have 3 DVDs currently available - beginner 1, Put the Belly Back in Bellydance, and Elegant Turns and Arabesques. I am going to be rereleasing Beginner 2 in about two months. I only have a performance DVD from Jillina's Al Dunia from 2008 it is a good show with many dancers and I do one dance on it- working on getting something more substantial.

So, no arms dvd in the future? Also, are the new dvds pressed or dvd-r?

Arms could still occur, I just wasn't able to fit in enough this last round of shooting. ..l;,
The DVDs I have in my hands now are DVDrs because I needed them quickly for my February events. However, I'll be doing a real press soon.

I am soooo looking forward to these DVD's! :)

The arms DVD was probably Aziza. She just put one out. I need to pick up that one and both of the new ones by Hannan:) Thankfully my birthday is coming up here in March so they are on my list:)

Might have to give the turns and Arabesque DVD a look. Does anyone know if the Barrel turn is covered. This turns gives me grief at times :(

Just got the dvds today and zapped thru' the "Put the belly back into BD". Saw lots of inspiration there and I'm looking forward to studying it in depth.

I have the turns/Arabesque dvd and I love it. I covers barrel turns and chenee turns along with the cork screw turn. It's a great dvd!

I wonder about the ab dvd. No comments. Why is it that vendors don't put the running times of their dvds anywhere?

Hi! I am finally getting the covers made and finishing touches done. I will also have a more comprehensive dvd description and ordering page on my website. So, the pre-release period (which I did to help offset production costs) for the DVDs is ending.

If it helps, here is an email someone sent me who purchased the belly DVD. "I also wanted to tell you that your “put the belly back in bellydance” is absolutely wonderful! I started dancing in 2005 and it’s taken me 3 years to actually find those ab muscles (that I know are in there somewhere) and your video is one that I wish I had found before. Hannan, I am looking to buy your belly dvd too. I love how you have incorporated yoga and breathing into your dvds. My teacher from Seattle taught the same yoga technique for teaching stomach/diaphragm flutters.

I also like how you have sectioned the dvd, there's the warmup, technique and then combos using the techniques taught earlier.

So for those interested, here are the turns Hannan teaches in the video:

cross turn
chenee turn/variation
low turn
flamenco turn
corkscrew
barrel turn
arabesque
jazz arabesque
backward arabesque

Any more info breakdown of the ab dvd?

Good to see this thread is alive, it's a reminder for because I haven't watched the dvd's yet. Hannan taught two awesome workshops in Leuven in februari, hoping that the dvd will help me retain the material.

I'll have to check this out, Dina. I know much of what you like is also what I like!!

Are there any video clips available of these new dvds ? I can't seem to find any

I'm interested in this dvd, especially if it has a fair amount of exercises for people who have a hard time with ab work. I've located the muscles, I just can't get them to do what I want them to do.
