I think, but I may be wrong, but Rachel's last couple were BDSS 'rush jobs' due to the popularity of Rachel and her dancing. Rachel herself was also extremely busy and that, to me, showed in both dvd's. She just looked plain tired!

Poor gal, but with WDNY, I am sure there'll be a new Rachel....fresh and calm.

Could very well be, BDSS has lots of "half cooked" dvds out there IMO.
To be fair: Demand for Rachel (and other) dvds must have been HUGE, and I guess most fans prefer half cooked dvds by their heroines over no dvds at all :)

I have a feeling this one is really going to knock the other two out of the water. I mean, almost 4 hours of instruction?! And unlike the BDSS, WDNY hires actual cameramen to produce quality videos, not someone cousin off the street who drops the camera every 5 minutes. I personally, am really glad to see this change in direction and know that my money is going to be well spent!

I personally believe - and hope! - more star dancers may turn to the more independent producers with a reputation for amazing quality.. the fact that the WDNY and also Cheeky Girls releases are so different depending on the dancer IMO shows the dancers/instructors exercise a good say in what the product should be like.
And I've never felt a release was premature with these companies.. they seem to release when the product is good - great! - and not earlier no matter what.
Think of Autumn Ward's, Jenna's, Ranya Renee's, Sarah Skinner's dvds.. to me they all have the quality of instruction and AMOUNT of quality instruction I have come to expect of great dvds, yet the content, style, mood is SO different on each of them. I love that.
So I hope many more dancers will go this direction.
There's so many dancers I would love to have 3 or 4 hours programs by!!! :)

I don't dance tribal/fusion but I would very much like to, but I'd have to use dvds as there are no tribal teachers near me sadly. I borrowed Rachels arms dvd and that really helped me with strength and fluidity, maybe this dvd could be a starting point for me, for my adventures into tribal fusion :)

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!

I remember one could buy some art work as posters for Fantasy Bellydance - WDNY I would LOVE to buy this Rachel pic as a poster.
I'd prefer it as art work without the text on it, but I'd also buy it with text printed on for it is SO beautiful.

WOW this picture as a poster I would put that right in my hopefully-existent-in-my-next-flat dance practice room :))

I took workshops with the Indigo in November, best money I ever spent on workshops. If this is even a snippet of what I learned at the workshop (and watching the trailer I see some familiar drilling!), I am THRILLED! Rachel is a big fuzzy loveball in person, breaks things down nicely and in the workshops adjusted movements for advanced or beginner levels (since there was a mix in the class). :) To have this kind of instruction - and so many hours for $25. is more than worth the price!!!

I agree with the other girls, her other videos prior - though great with Yoga, left me wanting more technique. The camera angles would suddenly zoom in on her pretty face, but then you missed that fabulous isolation she was doing - that was frustrating if you were seeking layering techniques. The trailer on this shows her in one piece, and mirrored so you can see what she's adding in. I love this!

Scott - if in the future you add bootcamp belly/spins with Zoe and choreographies with Mardi, I will die a happy girl! xD Just sayin'!!

I'm really tempted to get the 'pin up' as well. That looks like a lot of fun and a lot of the fusion dancers are delving into glam retro/vintage (including The Indigo).

Bootcamp Belly?? With Rachel Brice? What an awesome dvd that would be!

In Addition to the Mardi Love Choreography: What about a turn of the century make-up and styling part of the dvd? That would be sooooo gorgeous. *le sigh*

Why are we not surprised? Rachel gives her all in everything she does. She is one of the finest persons I have ever met, frankly. I know a lot of people feel this way about her. Rachel Brice is both superhuman and a super human. :)

Scott, I do want to say how glad I am that WDNY is putting out dvds with substantial workout components such as drills, conditioning, yoga, and stretching. I need to lose weight and keep in shape. Out of necessity, I often have to put aside my bellydance dvds to get the best results, no matter how fun they are. I have a lot of weight to lose. Asharah's dvd is the toughest and all of the flows are great too. Please keep them coming! And challenging is the best, especially if well-chaptered.

I'm really looking forward to this dvd!

Hi, Alibelly - ! Just wanted to let you know that although you are located in South Africa which does not permit Paypal, you can still order directly from our website.

I receive orders and ship DVDs directly to South Africa from http://worlddancenewyork-worldwide.com very frequently, and everyone who makes such purchases is using the PayPal window at our website to make payment -- even though the PayPal company does not have South African accounts.

Here is how other dancers in South Africa are doing that:

There are two ways to use the Paypal window that pops up on the World Dance New York websites:

One is to sign-in to your own PayPal account from there, and use your own PayPal account to pay for your DVDs. This is what it is not possible to do from South Africa.

The other way is to have no PayPal account but to just use the PayPal window that opens at our website to pay with a regular South African bank credit card.

This is not as 'obvious' as the bright shiny button that invites you to use your own PayPal account, but if you look closely you will find it.

The option of using your regular credit card is not 'colorful' like the PayPal payment button -- it's just a little 'text' link, found to the left.

By the way it is not only South Africa that does not have Paypal accounts: There are a lot of countries where this situation exists and in almost all of them it is possible to use the World Dance New York PayPal window to pay with a regular credit card as described above.

Neither did I.

Mine hasn't been shipped yet either, but the rest of my order has been. I hope Serpentine will follow soon! Until then, I'll just have to get excited over the reviews.

This DVD is PHENOMENAL...and as someone who works in TV- I give two huge thumbs up to WDNY! The production is fantastic!!! :D
