Thread: Rachel Brice Interview

Hi guys,

I read a rare interview with Ms Rachel Brice yesterday and thought I'd share it:

I am not the biggest fan of tribal style, and especially not tribal fusion; yet in some documentaries where I'd seen some glimpses into Ms Brice's personality I found her extremely likeable (American Bellydancer, Underbelly..). She comes across as a cool, laid-back, very interesting female; thoughtful and spontaneous and silly all in one.

So yeah, I've tried to read more on her, articles by or interviews with her since then, and found very little.

Now Mala did what she does best - get more out of the star dancers than any bellydance afficionado residing and dancing in the same country as these dancers ,r:; (I wonder how she does it!!!!!)

I found the interview a joy to read.

I put it in this bhuz location since Rachel talks about her new 2 dvd set quite a bit, so I guess people searching for info on it will find the interview helpful, too.

What do you think? Like me, would you like to have coffee with Ms Brice? or Chai Latte ?

I've had the chance to study with her only once (for a weeklong), and she was exactly as everybody always describe her: generous, humble, funny. The thing that impressed me the most was that instead of promoting herself, her shows or her DVDs (which is perfectly normal at a workshop!), she kept on talking about her teachers and their art!

Rachel sounds like a great person to meet! Did you notice how she freely talks about her inspirations and teachers in Mala's interview too? She's more like yeah the dvds were a great experience, you know who I learned SO much from?
She comes across as very humble and down to earth indeed.

When she said "I'm not a f**** CHEERLEADER" in the American BD documentary I thought "that's an American girl I'd love to meet!", and what I've heard of her since confirmed that to me :))))

The 1st time I saw Bellydance Superstars in 2004, she was the one that made us gasp. Her personal charisma is amazing, and no doubt a huge impetus of the current "tribal fusion" popularity IMO. Cool interview thanx

I met her once, in a workshop, and she was the sweetest. She's incredible, in every way!
