Haven't seen the DVD, but having seen her raqs assaya on one of the Hollywood Music DVDs, I would be most interested!

me too! Amar Gamal's Supreme Shimmies looks great too.

I don't know much about the video, but I took a cane workshop with her last year. Her style is more modern Egyptian than retro folky. Her cane work can have a bit of a masculine flair to it that is reminiscent of her extensive training with Yousry Sharif. Virginia is a lovely dancer and a wonderful inspiration to anybody who's ever felt they're hopeless because they didn't have ten years of ballet lessons as a kid.

I like masculine flair!! :)

btw Kevin said they would be offered at Ocean State Media most likely today.

just ordered from Oceanstate... can't wait! normally they're really fast. btw I HATE the current dollar/euro exchange rate.. we've grown so spoiled in recent years with paying much less than the dollar price :(

i briefly looked through it and i LOVE it. so much information and great combinations (although I haven't had a chance to practice yet, i just skimmed through the dvd).

ok i finally got a chance to work with it tonight and i love it even more! the only thing i wish she did was work more on the left side but i guess one could always do that themselves :)

I received mine yesterday... The DVD is fabulous!!! The combinations are explained on a clear and detailed level. The DVD includes also a bonus performance: The cane choreography is the same Virginia taught and also performed at Stockholm Belly Dance Festival on May this year :tongue:.

Can somebody who has this video give some more detail on the content please?
How is this in comparison to the Nourhan Sharif Raks Assaya video?
Is it the same movements? More movement? Less? How about combos? Or is it just technique?

Would playing it on your computer avoid that problem? That's a good question..I would think Virginia made it so that international dancers can buy it and use it but I'm not sure how easy it is to create a Region free dvd. You can ask her on FB if you're friends with her there, or I can ask some of her troupe members to see if they might know.

I just emailed my friends, lets see if they know.

I already asked Virginia on FB, but I think she gets so many messages on there that she might have missed it.

I have been wanting to get this DVD too, but everwhere I look, I find "Region 1" DVD (so only US & Canada).
I saw that you are in Europe too... Did you get a "Region 1" DVD?
And does it play on your pc? Or even in your DVD player?
