Galit is probably not very well known in the US - I was advised her 2dvd set for beginners here on bhuz - while I owned already many beginner dvds what I loved for Galit's was she has a very old movie star like glamour in her movements. her arms reminded me a bit of Samia Gamal - and when she got into the beginner movements her way of getting into the moves and stopping them was very pretty and elegant, showing more integrated movements than "just" beginner moves. Also she included a practice cd in the set, which I loved.

She has a more advanced rather "no frills" produced video teaching a shisha choreography inspired by Fifi Abdo's famour performances.

Very nice material - Galit is a very good dancer, Egyptian style but rather "old Golden" Egyptian style than modern.

I am very curious for this dvd.

I'm curious as well -- do you think this would play on American computers, if not dvd players? It says PAL format, but I wonder if my computer could play it.

Aziyade - I watch dvds on my computer(s) only! never had a problem with neither my Mac nor my old Windows computer (the latter on an external dvd drive, a rather new one though).

I have no tv/dvd player so I could not tell you how it is for them - but on my computer all dvds, American, Australian, European, South American etc worked fine, without any region problems (despite sometimes having announcements of specific formats on the cover). Don't know if that helps :)

I got it for ideas for my classes. I like her a lot! It is a no frills production. The CD is one guy playing dumbek, percussion, nay, and other "small" non electrified sound, ethnic. It is also great for teaching!

Oh, and I am in US, it all plays fine in my new dvd player, my old, and on computer.

Ya that's the one I have (and one that is much more no frills on shisha dance) - this one is fine quality regarding visuals and audio, at least for me! not what I personally consider no frills :)

The music in the new one is on Itunes - Balkan Beat Box "Habibi Min Zaman" - got it! think I'm gonna get the DVD! I do stuff like that in my experimental funky mode, and call it that! :-)

Indeed very interesting! But my only fear to practice with "fusions" dvds is to ruin my beginning Egyptian style of movements...Because for me, as a beginner, is important to follow the instructor and to be alike...That's why I don't buy tribal DVDs too... I am afraid to take different style movements in my improvisations... And make it look not a as bellydancing but as a simple pop-dancing...

Got it, love it, teaching it to my troupe with Galit's blessings! It is jazz dance - not tribal - fusion with bellydance. I did jazz dance for years and am enjoying incorporating it in this dance, which really is what many modern Egyptian dancers do today anyway to some extent.
Plays in some of my dvd players...and not others! Some of my "American" DVDs do the same thing tho, depending on the machine's age.
