You know, WDNY produces so many high-quality, content-rich DVDs...I just wish they'd throw a few more bones to those of us who aren't really interested in tribal fusion/fantasy! :)

Yes! Also, why do they seem to come out with challenging tribal fusion videos with interesting concepts, dance meditations, etc, but the oriental style stuff is still all 8 hip drops on the right, 8 drops on the left, figure 8, etc.

No one here will ever convince me otherwise - Robot dancing in a midriff baring costume has NOTHING to do with bellydance!

Well, there was that Ranya Renee video they put out...it's not all fluff!

I think that they have put out some fantastic videos for oriental/cabaret style dancers. I just want them to put out more that aren't at a beginner level! The Ranya Renee and Sarah Skinner DVDs they have put out are great.

Yes, when are they going to do more intermediate dvds for cabaret!

Yes, I loved the Ranya Renee DVDs. I was so disappointed when she decided not to finish the classic oriental one with them. Hopefully, the ones she puts out on her own will be good.

She told us that after her apartment fire, they just couldn't work out a time to get back together. She also said Neon arranged for her to have the footage that had already been shot, so you'll see it in her dvds.

I agree that I wish they would make more cabaret dvds, but to be fair, there basically WERE no TF dvds until they started producing them. Now the TF girls have BDSS, individual artists, and WDNY, and I'll bet it's an EXCELLENT money-maker! I don't even dance TF, but at their pricepoint, I can't help but buy the dvds anyway -- just for cross-training :)

and they HAVE put out a ton - most of Neon's dvds are cabaret. Jenna's amazing ones (beginner, intermediate, drum solo) are. Autumn may be rather theatrical in her performances and music choice, but her movements are certainly not tribal nor tribal fusion..
I love the hip hop fusion though. So I am thinking this may be more to my liking than tribal normally is.

I'd love a folklore dvd by WDNY. That's about the only branch of bellydance dvds they have done nothing for! Saidi, dabke, Turkish Romany style.. all rather underserviced in the market IMO.

Oh Dina yes... I'd dearly love to play around with folkloric styles but my teacher doesn't cover any in class- Scott? Scoooottttttt?

I don't know anything about this DVD, and I probably would never buy it, but I do like the teacher. I own the "Bellydance Fluid Tribal" (for cross training purposes) and I found that DVD to be accessible and easy to understand, while still presenting plenty of fun challenge. Just thought I'd let anyone know who was considering the DVD that it does offer a quality instructor =)

Sounds like a lot of useable info (even ignoring the robotic part, which doesnt interest me as such).

I know! The "Goddess" sections look wonderfully graceful, I'd like to get the dvd just for those parts.
