Well - I'd certainly want to see a trailer video first.
But the way the descrition sounds it doesn't have much to do with Bombay

Re: BDSS Bombay Bellywood- instructional?
I have no knowledge about Indian traditional dance or Indian temple dance.. but friends of mine who took classes some years ago said they trained for one entire semester with a strict middle-aged Indian lady basically learning the most basic poses, and not dancing at all (which disappointed them a little, so they switched to "Bollywood" dances).
Not that I ever felt I wanted to learn Indian temple dance, but it seemed to me this was an awfully difficult dance form with much preparation before one could "get dancin".. so is this "the real thing" and can it really be taught in a dvd with choreography immediately, or is this a fusion dance form incorporating some easier moves of Indian traditional dance? or maybe my friends' experience wasn't representative?

Arrrrrgh. ,m::
This is exactly what I was afraid of. As someone who has spent over a decade studying classical Indian dance and still doesn't feel qualified to teach or "fuse" it...
I dread the results when dancers will take this dvd and try to apply it or, worse, teach it.Keep the song in your throat
Let your hands bring out the meaning
Your glance should be full of expression
While your feet maintain the rhythm

Re: BDSS Bombay Bellywood- instructional?
It was VERY representative. Recently my teacher has come up with the idea of giving us a special homework: repeat the same short dance combination slowly for 10 minutes so we could really work on every little detail and get it right. Try it! 10 min. is a bloody long time to repeat the same moves over and over again.
I have been doing Bharata Natyam for over 13 years and I still find that I can improve some of the basic step cominations I learned 13 years ago...
No way you could learn this in a DVD. Especially not without somebody correcting you.
I already see a lot of strange "Indian" fusion stuff around. I don't know if this DVD will help...
