Oreet-anyone attend one of her workshops?
Has anyone attended an Oreet workshop that focuses on learning a choreography (as opposed to the Sharqui learning system)?
What did you think?
Thanks!

We (The NDC) hosted Oreet a few months back and she taught the choreography she used when she won a competition (Bellydancer of the Year, maybe? I'm blanking). Anyway ... it was great. She's a quite detailed instructor and very, very high energy! It was lots of fun and I was dripping in sweat afterward.

I attended one of her workshops here in San Diego (July 2007). It was a choreography, and it was great!! I still remember some of the combinations which is very rare for me !!

Is the Sharqui one worth the training/certification? I have been toying with offering a cardio bellydance class at the gym. I have AFAA certification and teach a couple other dance formats so I suppose I could make up my own class but I am wondering...

The workshop hosted in July in Baltimore, by Lotus Niraja and the NDC as Toya said was fantastic!
Oreet is a dynamic, energetic, engaging and consummate professional instructor/performer. (Yes, Lotus and the NDC are too!)
I loved her workshop and took a private with her as well.
Definitely, if you have a chance to attend one of her workshops or sponsor her in your area, you will be so happy you did! That goes for Lotus as well!

oreet has a sharqui video. i recently did the sharqui certification- and passed whew! i still have to go through the fitness certs and more practice but it was worth it. she kicked my BUTT. even if you dont pass, the training teaches you a lot. i now have a lot more muscular control and i have applied her principles to my dancing and to the way i teach classes. my students aren't too thrilled with it -MUHAHAHA- as they are in a lot more pain, in a good way but it's great!

Oreet speaks perfect English :)
I had the pleasure of being at the Columbia MO workshop and I was REALLY impressed.
Her teaching style is very interactive. When you ask a question she takes comments from the audience and makes you sort of answer your own question, in a way -- But in a completely polite and non-threatening way.
Her workshop was very ENERGETIC. I think that's probably the best way to describe both her teaching and her performing. Even during the slowest parts of the music, or during the dramatic bits, there is always an energy there, which makes her dancing so dynamic.
She taught a pop choreography that was not only really cute, but it was taught in such a way that I actually remembered most of it as we were dancing it! That rarely happens to me. I thought the choreo was very fun, and quite educational, as she picked out accents that I hadn't thought of before.
She also taught a couple of short Taqsims, and this was what I was really interested in, since I had seen her dance at MEDINA and knew she was a all of fire, and wondered how she would approach the slow gooey bits. I was very impressed with how she chose to interpret the music, and how much energy and drama her taqsim choreographies contained. I am now looking at Taqsims in a whole new light.
Oreet surprised me many times. You know how you get the point where you sort of KNOW what somebody's going to do, because EVERYBODY does _that_ to _that part_ of the music? Well, she didn't. I found that refreshing and educational. She reminds me in many ways of Elena Lentini in her approach to the music.
She gave me a lot to think about. I'm really glad I attended, and I wouldn't hesitate to attend another workshop with her.
