Thread: DVD review: Tribal Fusion BellyDance with Sharon Kihara

I just got this DVD today from Borders bookstore and I LOVE IT!! She
uses yoga isolations for warm-up, goes through a conditoning section
for glutes, arms, hips and torso. Then she drills/breaks down the
moves, telling you what muscles to contract when. Its really helpful
to see "how" the move is done by muscle contractions. Then she teaches
a choreography broken down into 4 combos using the moves she drilled
and then she adds to those moves to make them interesting, but still
using the base move so its easy to follow. I HIGHLY recommend this
DVD, even if tribal fusion is not your style, its awesome for
conditioning and practicing isolations. I consider myself a intermediate dancer, and this was quite a good workout for me. It was 14.99 at my borders store in Newport News VA.

I'm not a Tribal dancer, but I like the way the drills on other dvds feel on my body. I agree with the forum -- this is a great dvd to practice with, even if it's not your style.

Plus she's so darn cute!!!

The only thing I didn't like was the angle of the camera at times -- it was almost like it was too far to the side or something. Kind of strange and slightly distracting, but not enough to annoy me.

(Does anybody else feel like they are actually lengthening their torsos when they work with these tribal fusion style dvds? I swear that's what's happening to me ... LOL)

I've never seen this dvd, but I did a workshop with her in September and she is crazy about a band called Bright Black Morning Light. You can search them and hear some of their music. She calls it funky lounge music. Also, her boyfriend has a band. A little harder edge. I think there's bagpipes in it.
