Thread: Karim Nagi's new DVD on musicality is available, but ...

... the only place I'm seeing it for sale is on Suhaila's website, and she wants $15 to ship it to me. For a $24 dvd, that's a bit much.

Has anyone seen this dvd for sale elsewhere? I'd like to check it out.

I hadn't heard about this and he was just here a week ago....why the heck didn't he offer it to us?

Did you try contacting Karim directly? If nothing else, maybe it'll be a kick in the pants to get it up on his own site's store. ;P He's on FB or you can email turbotabla (at) aol (dot) com.

That's cool! Didn't know about this dvd coming out but it looks like it'll be good. :-) Haven't seen it anywhere else, when I checked shipping price for me it came to about $11.80 which is a little high for a single DVD but it just might be worth it...hmmm....

Also, I thought I heard a while back that Karim was coming out with a folk dance DVD, anyone hear anything on that?

Karim does not have any copies but he says wait 3 weeks and it will be available on filmbaby.

I guess I will wait.

It is my understanding that Suhaila filmed and produced it, so it's possible he didn't have the authority to sell it independently, or had to give her first dibbs or something. ???

It looks like a great concept -- hopefully it will cover a lot of what he talks about in his musicality workshops.

You know I really don't get excited about DVDs but I love his musicality workshop. When I get my copy I may have to have a watch party.

Got mine in the mail today, but haven't bee able to put it into the DVD player yet.

I just popped this into the DVD player, and am having it on while cleaning up my desk and getting stuff together for doing our taxes (i.e., I am having a half ear and eye for it). It is a recording of a workshop filmed at Suhaila's studio, with a brief intro, and added chapters.

What's the content on this one? I think I'm going to pick it up later in the month. Is it basically his musicality for dancers workshop?

I'm glad this thread came back because I never really heard a review of this DVD.

It is AWESOME!! Totally recommend it for ALL dancers! He explains musical structure with LOTS of dancer participation (singing the Maqams) and does Taqsim drills. And that is only HALF of the video. I haven't even watched the 2nd part. It is worth every penny and then some.
