Would like to hear about Bozzills. : )
Hello Bhuz! I'd like to know more about the Jim Boz special edition Saroyan zills...the fact that there is one silver among the set sounds intriguing. Has anyone had them? How loud are they? Do they obviously sound different than other sets? I've had German silver Afghanis and though I loved them, they were just too much zill for everyone else. The size and weight were perfect and it looks like the Bozzills are comparable. Thank you in advance.

They are nice but a bit larger than most dancers prefer. For long routines they can be heavy. I have a wrist issue so that was another issue. The sound is unique, of course Saroryan zils are awesome.

I had a set and sold it. The sound was painfully unpleasant for my ears. I should say, though, I seem to sensitive to certain frequencies, and that ringing ear reaction is in particular triggered by silver Afghanis and Zildjians; i.e., I believe it is a very personal thing.
If you like the size and weight, maybe try the brass Afghanis, the sound is a lot less dramatic and more mellow, at least to me. And, I recently had the chance to briefly try the bronze ones, they also seemed very nice.

I love the Jim Boz cymbals and find them surprisingly easy to play, since they're pretty big.

I also bought a set when they first came out but couldn't stand the mixed after-ring of the dual tones and therefore did not keep them. However I have a peculiar hearing handicap - total mono hearing, one ear only - and after-ring in general bothers me more I think than it bothers other dancers.
I actually have and use at times some small Turkish zills that are dual-tone and I really like those, but they're not as loud and they don't have much after-ring because they're single hole rather than double slot.

Thanks ladies! I'd to at least try them....residual ringing doesn't really bother me though in regards to my audience, maybe they're too much zill for bellygrams and such.
Rosette, can you tell me where you got your zills? Thanks!Well behaved women rarely make history.
