Re: Dina - Sydney 2010 Concert DVD
Does anybody know if this DVD has any regional restrictions on it, or if it's region-free? I've dropped Amera a line already but have yet to hear back...

I've been told the DVD has no region restriction but it is in PAL, not NTSC.

Re: Dina - Sydney 2010 Concert DVD
So I'm curious, are DVD players in the US not all multi region and multi system?
In Australia, even the cheap chinese made DVD players you get at K mart will player foreign DVDs in both PAL and NTSC and are not region restricted.

If they were, we wouldn't have to ask. :)

You can find crack codes on the interwebs for your players, you know, to make them multiregion. Not that I would ever do such a thing.
In NZ also, almost all DVD players are multiregion by default. I was shocked to my core when my last one wasn't. But I totally didn't fix that using crack codes I found on the internet.

Don't think I haven't been looking. Just out of curiosity, of course -- the thirst for knowledge. Not that I would ever USE such a thing if it did exist for my make and model, of course. No sirree bob.

It's the PAL format that's more of an issue, for me personally anyway. I know there's software that can do the conversion, but from what I've read you typically lose the menus and chaptering, so it sounds like a mixed bag. Or one can pay a professional to convert it, but that would cost at least as much as the DVD itself, more mixed bag.

I am beginning to think the format is not an issue if you have a multiregion player. When I bought Shareen's Daret al Ayam DVD she converted it to PAL for me, and I have those chaptering issues. Whereas I have a bunch of US DVDs that play just fine, on every television I've ever had including old ones. I don't know what that means or why that is.

Re: Dina - Sydney 2010 Concert DVD
Yes that would be correct, a DVD player needs to be both multi region and multi system to be versatile. So it's no use having an unlocked DVD player if it still only plays in NTSC or PAL. The DVD regions are only related to markets, not systems used.
Bizarrely Mexico and Australia are classified region 4, but Mexico uses NTSC and Australia uses PAL. So if you had a US DVD player NTSC that was unlocked you could play a DVD from Mexico but not Australia.
Don't know if this helps but multi system DVD players aren't too expensive
