Hi,
I'm new on here, so apologies if I've put this in the wrong section. Feel free to move my post.
I was just wondering if anyone has ordered from bellydance-shop.com before and can help me.
I put an order through last week and my payment was accepted, but it appears that my order has not been shipped. They promise delivery to Australia within 2-3 days, but that has obviously not happened and it doesn't look like I'm going to get my items in time for performances this weekend.
I've contacted them and haven't heard anything.
What has concerned me more, is that when I went to view my order status, I can see someone else's order, as well as my own, so I'm worried about the security and legitimacy of the site.
(Plus, that person's order is from February and hasn't been shipped either)
I'm wondering if I should contact Paypal and get my money back.
Does anyone have any experience with this shop and can give me any advice?
Or even better, is there someone from bellydance-shop on here who can help me?
I'm a student and was hoping my order would arrive in the promised time so I'd have a proper looking costume to wear. :(
Thanks in advance.

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
I can't speak for others but I did not have a good experience with bellydance-shop.com. They shippped the wrong size costume and it was not quite what I had ordered. I sent them numerous emails with no response, and no answer on phone calls either. Their customer service is totally non existent.
One of my troupe mates ordered two costumes and they came exactly as she ordered no issues. So it's a bit of a gamble I think with them. Some orders are fine, others not so much.
There is another thread out here somewhere on them, I read it AFTER I got my incorrect costume
I never did get to return my costume to them, it's for sale here on the swap meet. I really hope you have better luck.Cinderella is proof that a pair of shoes can change a girls life.

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Thanks Kaeyla.
I had sent a question about sizes before ordering and received an almost immediate response, so I didn't think there'd be an issue.
I tried looking for threads on here about them, but mustn't have searched properly cause I didn't find anything.
Let's hope the costumes arrive, although it feels a little pointless when the shows are this weekend!

Thanks.
Yeah, it doesn't look so great.
I'll see how things go over the next week and deal with it a bit later, as now I need to concentrate on finding something for the weekend!

I just spoke to the woman at Seventh Veil in Victoria and she's saved me from being costumeless! She's making up a top and skirt for me and express posting them!
YAY for Seventh Veil!

I know that timezones can make it a bit challenging to find the right time, but I would call their customer service number and ask for an immediate, full refund.

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Hmmm...half of the order were items for a fellow student, so I'll tell her everything I've seen on the forums here and we'll make a decision together.
Part of me wants to just cancel the order, but the other part of me would like to see if the items come (though, it seems like the quality is hit and miss too!)
Thanks for all your help, ladies!

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Hi, I recently ordered a costume from belly-shop.com as well. It's been nearly two weeks now (I ordered on the 10th April) and nothing.
I've emailed, phoned, used their "customer service" and received nothing.
I wanted to ask whether your order ever arrived and if not did you manage to contact them?
It may be worth doing mass emails to all contacts about this site, it's utterly ridiculous!
Thanks in advance!

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Hi Natifa,
I came on here as I realised I hadn't updated the thread to let people know. The items arrived on the Monday after I needed them, would you believe?! I never received any tracking or notice on the website that it had been shipped...they just arrived!
I have to say that the quality isn't as nice as it seems on the website, however, the shiny skirts with chiffon are pretty decent. The lycra tops we ordered are all kinds of sizes and don't fit very well, so I'm going to need to get them altered. Plus one of the tops is a completely different shade to what was ordered and does not match the other one which should be the same colour. The chiffon skirts are very thin and see-through and they are not pull-on skirts. They open up on one side and clip together at the top, so the split in the skirt is from absolute top to bottom, so you'll need something for underneath, if you've ordered one of those.
I'll definitely use what I've bought, but I have to say, I wouldn't order from them again. The items I got from Seventh Veil were cheaper AND much nicer quality!
Also, my Mum is buying me a gorgeous pro costume from Amera's Palace for my birthday, so I'll have that now too! I've gone from zero costumes to a bunch of them!
Good Luck getting your order. I hope it arrives and you are happy with it! Let us know how things go!

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Well at least they arrived I suppose! That's something. How long did it take in the end? I've ordered a leopard print costume (I have a bit of an obsession) and hope that it will fit OK!
You'll need to do a pilgrimage to down town Cairo, the only place to get great costumes! I thought I'd died and gone to heaven when I walked into that place (Happy days!!!).
I'll make sure that others don't order from this shop. Goes to show that the prices really are too good to be true!
I know the skirts you mean, and yes, they are very annoying. That's rubbish you have to adjust them. You would have been better just buying the fabric and getting them done to measure.
I hope your performance went well despite the drama ;) I will let you know when (fingers crossed) the outfit arrives!
Thanks for the reply
Natifa xxx

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
I had ordered a shiny lycra/chiffon skirt with bellydance-shop.com a couple of years ago and it took nearly a month to get the skirt that should have been delivered in a few days! Getting in touch with a customer service rep was virtually impossible. I tried contacting them at different times of the day thru the online chat system, over the phone and email and didn't get a reply...until I demanded paypal to investigate the matter. Finally when my skirt arrived, it reeked heavily of cigarette smoke! I couldn't believe it! After all the headaches they put me through, I decided it was not worth shelling out another precious penny to return the item.
I absolutely do not recommend buying from them. The service alone is dreadful and the product is less than desirable. Take my advice and save yourself the aggravation! That's just my two cents.......

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Andalee, that's something I forgot about! The cigarette smoke! One of the plastic bags smelt of cigarettes, so I think 3 of the tops stank.
You're also right that it's not worth the money to return the items.
Natifa, I think it was about 2 weeks...maybe just under.
I haven't performed in the stuff from bellydance-shop yet, but will be at the Sydney Middle Eastern Dance Festival this weekend. I'll probably only use the shiny skirt with chiffon, as that's the only one I don't need to add another layer to or adjust. Would love to wear my brand new pro costume, but a fellow dancer got a matching skirt in another colour, so it'd be nice for us to be matching. :D
Are you still waiting? The leopard print costume is cute! I hope you get it and that you are happy with it! Some of the ladies who have received pro costumes from them have said they were happy, even though it took them ages to get their outfits!

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
The outfit arrived today! And it doesn't smell of fags either which is good ;)
The leopard print is OK, it doesn't look nearly as pretty as it did in the photo though
The top isn't as good. I think it would probably work quite well on stage though. And it arrived which is the important thing!
Thanks to everyone for all your help and comments and good luck with the Sydney Festival, that sounds like great fun!

Re: Anyone dealt with bellydance-shop.com before?
Glad it arrived, but sorry to hear it's not what you expected.
My friend and I ended up wearing the lycra tops, but crossed them over the front and tied them up at the back and tucked in the loose back bit (that's how big they were!)
My technique was terrible in our performance at the festival! :( Was pretty disappointed with myself.
I'm dancing in my brand new pro cabaret costume on Wednesday! We're performing a choreographed piece and then improvising and getting people up from the crowd - my first time doing something like that! I'm a bit nervous, but it should be fun!
You'll have to tell us how your new costume is received when you wear it!

I wish I had read this thread before placing an order with them... I just opened a whole new thread asking about this vendor
I'm in the process of trying to get a refund... we'll see how that goes...
