Yay! Thank you! HMC has put out so many tempting DVDs lately, yet there are so few reviews. I already have "Veil with Aziza" and "Veil with Sarah Skinner", so from your review (I'm guessing) getting this one would probably overlap, even though I really like Kaeshi. I am looking forward to Tanna Valentine's WDNY Veil workout for a solid non-stop practice, though.

P.S. I liked your anecdote about the going to the NYC workshop. :)

Then I'm glad I hit them up for review copies!

Yeah, to be honest, I think it's tricky. I actually have other veil DVDs too (Aziza, Sarah Skinner) but haven't worked with them yet, so I wasn't able to compare what overlaps and what doesn't. I'd say that for someone whose budget is tight and is hoping to get every last veil move possible, with drills and so on, it might not be the best choice. But I really did like the fact that it was so manageable -- I love the amount of material on 3-hr DVDs, but I wind up doing them less often because I don't know where to start. Whereas this gave me a bit of fun and practice at the end of a long day, and I now have an overview of the material and know I can return to, say, the simpler moves or the harder combos.

I really like Kaeshi Chai's demeanour and dancing too.

PS. I noticed from the HMC facebook page that they also have a veil video by Sadie coming out soon. Lots of veils!

    YES!!! This is so true!

I saw Sadie's new DVD cover up on their website and almost chuckled a little, because it seemed superfluous after their just releasing Kaeshi's veil DVD. I guess they must get a lot of sales from Sadie. :)

Any hints on what will be coming up later on in your blog?

I'm glad to know someone else thinks so! I feel a little weird sometimes when I do the reviews... I really enjoy shorter programs, ones I can just up and do one day, but on Amazon most reviews tend to prefer really long DVDs. Now don't get me wrong -- I *love* the massive amount of material WDNY, for example, puts on their DVDs. But sometimes I just want to do something for 45 minutes and then stop. (And I like it when they have that option.)

Yes, I can certainly give some hints! (I'm just so grateful to know anyone's reading!) My most immediate to-review pile includes, in no particular order:

Maha al Musa's Dance of the Womb (a 2-DVD set -- have watched half of it, still need to work with the other half)
    Aziza's Hands, Arms & Poses
more with Carmine Guida's doumbek DVD
    Drum Solo with Nanna Candelaria
    Rosa Noreen's Delicious Pauses

I'm trying to get through these as quickly as I can before I pop -- any day or week now. After that, I'll probably try to watch and review some of the performance and more conceptual DVDs in my stash -- like Secrets of the Stage 2 & 3, WDNY Fantasy Bellydance, and so on. I don't have a tv, but if the breastfeeding thing works out, I foresee some hours when I might also be able to watch my laptop.

Oh yes, and three more. If I have time before giving birth, I'll take it nice and easy with Sarah Skinner's "Opulent Motion" and Blanca's "Sensual Bellydance." And if I go over term, I'll probably work with and review Sarah Skinner's shimmy workout, to help labor come along!

I'm looking forward to reading all of those reviews! I don't have any of those DVDs except for the Shimmy Workout with Sarah Skinner, which I work with a lot. But it's always fun to hear someone else's opinion and see what they like versus what I do. Congrats on your pregnancy! :)

Thanks! And yes, I also like reading reviews, even for DVDs I have and/or use, because sometimes it helps me get a sense of how other people structure their practices... you can get good tips that way.
