Monica has been studying belly dance since 1992, and has taught several weekly multi-level classes at the Alonzo King Lines Dance Center since 2003. Classes include breakdowns of core movements and technique, combinations and choreographies, as well as 'dance alongs' to a variety of songs from classical Egyptian standards to modern Middle Eastern hits. Improvisation, rhythm recognition, musical interpretation, folkloric styles and bellydance roots, cultural and conceptual context, and finger cymbals are also emphasized.

Monica's classes are open to people of all ages, sizes and genders, and are taught in a fun, safe and non-competitive environment.

Monica is available for private lessons in and around the San Francisco Bay area, and workshops in the Bay Area and beyond.

Monica occasionally sponsors workshops in San Francisco. Past events include Sahra Saeeda (co-sponsor, 2008) and Shareen El Safy (2009, 2010, upcoming 2011).
