Music Selection Help
So.....after a little more than a year of dancing, my family is on me to dance for them so they can see what I do. I have decided to surprise them at my graduation party (in my grandma's back yard, I wouldn't dream of dancing in public yet). I would like some help on song suggestions for you all though. I would like something up beat, not too fast tho, around 3-5 minutes, not too many weird rhythm changes. In short, a good song for a slightly advanced beginner so that I can throw in the "usual" moves like hip drops, shimmy's and the like. What would you ladies suggest? (Gentlemen welcome too of course!)

I remember my very first belly dance solo was done to George Abdo's Hizzi ya nawaim-shake and dance smoothly.

After dancing for a year, you must have heard some songs you particularly like. I would go with something you already know pretty well and like a lot. Don't worry too much about it--at this stage it should be something that makes you want to get up and dance to!

Re: Music Selection Help
try habibi ya eini - classic dance song, updated to a pop song. Its a good piece with a couple changes but easy to follow and a pretty steady rhythm throughout:

Re: Music Selection Help
I just picked a bunch of really popular songs kind of at random, they are all dance-able though. I think you can get a translation of most of them pretty easily as well too, which is a good idea to get an idea of the feeling you should give the dance.
