Ok, I'm about to be no help at all, but ...
Yasmina Ramzy used this great pop song during warm ups this weekend. She said its ALL over Egypt, Dina's danced to it, and everywhere you go, you hear this song.
I don't know the name, I don't know the artist. All I know is: They are saying something about a grape.
..g.:
I know. no help at all. Sorry!!!
If anyone was at the workshop and remembers the one I'm talking about (She used it sunday during warmups, and then when she played the three different styles of music)
Or, if anyone is psychic and knows what I'm talking about (because I sure don't)...I will love you forever and ever, and if you EVER come out to Vegas, I promise to take you to dinner.
..g.:

Um, I think I know that music. Is it on this raunchy clip??
http://www.youtube.com/watch?search=...&v=NVGsLPYG5Qw
The guy keeps repeating 'Ainab, which means "grape". Zaza Hassan had a fragment of the song on a CD he sold, but I don't know the name or singer.
I don't think this qualifies as dinner-worthy, but it might be a start.

As already told is by Saad Soghayar and the name is El Ainab. You can get it from many shabi collection CDs they sell here in Cairo. Almost any music shop.
The lyrics tell about a man, who loves many kinds of fruits. (I wrote this in the old Bhuz.) Mangoes, grapes, bananas and all the different colors, too. The song has been on the top since last Ramadan, when the movie came out. We will see when it will go down. It's very fun song to dance to. The movie isn't yet on vcd, so the ones traveling here in Cairo may not yet be able to buy it and see Dina dancing (and acting).

Aaaahh!!! my eyes!!!
Trust me, Yasmin, when you get home, check out the Dina video (*very* cute) and don't even bother clicking on the other one unless you want to see two people dry humping on a dance floor.

Yes, she did and another song she used is from the same CD by Sa'ad . . . El Hantour! I have had this music since March (LOL, got it in Cairo), so I had it burned in my brain for weeks as I have been playing it in my car while commuting!!! It made an extremely dull and long commute much more fun, but I am sure those ppl in the cars around me as we were going 10 mph on the freeway were wondering why my car was bouncing!!!

And I got the music (special request to the hubby to pick it up for me) because I had seen the video with Dina dancing in it!!!

Sorry, sorry sorry. I thought it was on Maqam -
it's on Rashid's. www.rashid.com
they spell his name Saad el Soughayar on the drop down menu.
You'll also love track 7. Short, sweet and fun. :)

Damn you all, this thread got me curious, so I had to get the CD... Then while I was there, to make paying for shipping worthwhile, I got 3 more!

I bought some pop compilations, so if any of them turn out to be any good, I swear I will make you all buy them! How's that for revenge!

I'm delighted to see folks discovering Rashid's! When I was studying with Bobby Farrah, we would make pilgrimages over there to buy music. I had many long discussions with Stanley Rashid and learned a lot about the music I was buying. And yes, thanks to the evil Samira, I just went to the site and bought another handful of CDs. Someday I'll have to count up my collection. When our contractor was building a CD rack into the bookcase he built for my dance studio, he said, "You'll never fill a CD rack this big." Of course, I quickly outgrew it. Wonder how many I have, total.... .w.:

Isn't it funny how a lot of people can get by with only having 20 or 30 cds?
I just recently moved back in with my parents, and a friend of mine helped me unpack my cds...she was like "you've got to be kidding me..." I have well over 500 cds, which is NOT a lot, when I compare my collection to my best friends. But I'm still expanding...I should have a least a couple more after I finish at Rashid's! :)

I finally clicked on the first video that Bintbeled posted. That was actually the original version of the song. From what I understand the lyrics are more suggestive, too.
