Re: The last Egyptian belly dancer -news article
i think this type of thing has been going on for a while, i seem to recall Morocco talking about it on MED list. All I can say is: GO DINA!!
meanwhile down under the medical association is trying to prevent film makers from depicting smoking in movies ...

Re: The last Egyptian belly dancer -news article
I am so proud of my husband--he got Newsweek and spotted the photo of Dina (from the back no less in a very Dina-esque non traditional costume) and he said, "There's some belly dancer in that magazine." Interesting article. Sort of reminds me of the hypocrisy of the rise of religious fundamentalism in the United States.

I was wondering when Bhuzzers would pick up on this and I must say I'm not very surprised, sadly there has been snippets about this for some time now. Very sad and I'm with Dina! Will see/experience her workshops in August in Dallas and I hope I get a chance to tell her I hope Egyptians get their country back and soon!

this type of censorship has been going on in egypt and turkey for decades, it tightens, then loosens, then tightens again............dina's right, it will go back to what it was, and censor again..............and loosen up again..........the dancers, and fans, just ride it out............

Re: The last Egyptian belly dancer -news article
At least a few Egyptians say Saudi Arabia is the country that's ultimately going to change. "Egypt will be back to what it used to be,"
Hopefully the 1930s Casino era eh? But just the rose-tinted spectacles part please.
Seriously that is scary. The Saudi Empire. Ooooh no thanks.
