Re: Egyptian Embassy
Yes. Same rules apply for any native audience really. No special advice I'm afraid :-)

Eshe, she's a little behind in emails, but have you thought to email Mishaal and pick her brain?

Re: Egyptian Embassy
Hi Eshe
I performed a lot for the Egyptian Embassador and Egyptian Consul in The Netherlands.
Try Gana el Hawa from Abdel Halim Hafez as an opening no. (one of the Oriental Fantasy CD's has a great version). They like Hakim as well or do some folklore (saidi) at the end.
My shows for the Embassy were: Gana el Hawa or one of Oum Kalsoum's pieces, drum solo, hakim + lots of folklore pieces.
Stay away from swords, tribal, floorwork and BDS or fusion style of dancing.
Good luck

Re: Egyptian Embassy
It all depends on how you valid the importancy of them coming to see your show.
I would advise you to sandwhich your show into an egyptian folklore entrance, some fusion stuff and finale with classical or modern egyptian.
If they don't like the middle piece they always have the beginning and end to remember.
Its your show of course so it stands and falls of how important you think their attendance and approval is. However, if it is a big deal to you then I would advise you to adjust your show a bit.
good luck
