Thread: Taheya Karioka a teacher?

Once again, a question spurred by reading old Arabesques:

There was a brief article in an Arabesque journal -- and I can't remember the author, but she was/is a famous dancer in our community -- but the message of the article was this:

"Taheya Karioka would like everyone to know that she has NEVER taught classes, tutored students, or given personal instruction to anyone. She wanted me to pass this information on to the dance world."

Sounds like somebody was saying they trained with her - ? (This article was in the mid 70s.) Was this a big drama back in the day? I'm just trying to understand why Taheya would go to such trouble to ask someone to make this announcement.

And the first thought to pop into my head: In the recent Gilded Serpent article, Jodette claimed "affiliaton" with Badia Masabni, Tahia Karioka, Samia Gamal etc etc.
