Old style greek tsifteteli and karsilama video's

    Hi all
Just managed to upload some videos from the show we had on May dedicated to old greek songs from Smyrna (Izmir) and Kostantinoupoli (Istanbul).
Some of the songs exist in greek and turkish language also, and was wondering how much similar is the greek and turkish way of dancing them.
We were lucky to have with us Labrini Tasoula who teach this style for 20 years and she worked on the traditional group choreos.
Also was moving as it was a mother and daughter show!!!
The mothers were dancing the group choreo's old greek style and the daughters the solo's.
So we had in the between from the advanced class of my school solo's more free style and fussed with oriental to light up the atmosfaire
Before each part I wrote what is the specific dance style

    Hope you like them:

maria aya - the only one that looks very familiar so far ( i will watch the rest later) is koniali or in turkish "konyali"
which means "from konya" which is a city in inner anatolia. we use spoons for that dance too, but Im not sure about the steps

Exactly !!! we call it Koniali as it comes from Konya !!!!

Its so interesting to see how dance and music is floating between countries, special when they had a 400 years common history
