Thread: beware of the cell phone

I was performing with another belly dancer at a Birthday party last week and you know how middle eastern men get on one knee and clap well that is what I thought he was doing beacuse i just glanced down then i look a double take and he was trying to but his phone under my shirt. eeew! good thing I had granny panty's on but till i don't want anyone see those either. (LOL)
I gave him the
stink eye pulled my skirt close and choo chooed the other way.

I think I would have confiscated the phone, finished my set with said phone in my possession, and figured out how to delete the footage before giving it back to him.

Really? No one thought that a cell phone with photo capability could be used in a sinister way? With all the "up the skirt" stuff on the news half a year ago? It's in the malls or the grocery stores, on the escalators, in the elevators, on the commuter trains... it's bad ladies - it's not just on the dance floor. It's enough to make you wear bicycle shorts under your prettiest skirts.

we should make boy shorts with a pixelated print over the crotch for under costumes :p

Since I always wear pants to malls, grocery store, and other public places, I haven't really thought about it. Though on the rare occasion that I do wear a skirt, I do think about it if I'm in a public place on an elevated surface like a stairwell.

When I'm going to be dancing on a raised stage, I think about wearing something appropriate.

But while performing when I'm not on a raised stage but level with the audience? That's something I hadn't thought about.

Ugh, that is nasty, I am glad you realized what was happening.

I just sat on a bus this afternoon next to three young guys who were showing photos in their phones they had taken of women's torsos and butts. They also had a little girl with them (maybe 5 years old, one of their daughters or little sisters) and I felt so sad about how they were talking about women in front of her.

Well, by "sad" I actually mean I felt a sort of murderous rage. I finally moved (it was a long ride across town) so as not to spend what promises to be a lovely weekend in jail for assault.

Eek.

What a waste of human flesh!! I would have kicked the cell phone out of his hand and made a public spectacle of him. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and I'm sure the audience would agree!!

If you had a cane, you could have smashed the phone with it. Or, grabbed it and later flushed it down the toilet. What a sleeze.

I wonder, if you seized the phone, and examined it to confirm it indeed contained offending footage, would you then be able to use it as evidence in pressing charges against the guy as a sex offender for violating "peeping tom" laws?

Although I'm sure it would be seen as a minor enough offense to have minimal punishment, it would certainly put him at risk of some serious consequences if he offends again in the future.

In that case, I'm not sure what I'd hope for--for it to have footage so I can press charges or for it not to!! Either way, eew, eew, eeewww!!

I always wear bike shorts under skirts, even ankle-length skirts...it started at one of my past jobs, where I worked with three guys and during the day I might be up on a ladder or on the floor photographing stuff, but I still wanted to be able to wear skirts; I took my cue from the dance briefs I wear under my kilt (I'm a Highland dancer). After that I realized how much more secure it felt--no need to worry about how I was sitting or what I was doing or whether it was windy, etc. Now I feel naked if I don't wear my bike shorts!
