What are the best performance DVDs for inspiration?

Hi Sonja,
There are so many good performance DVDs out there, I'd say it depends on which dancers inspire you. Who are your favorite dancers?

For U.S. dancers, I like IAMED's Fourth Annual Awards of Bellydance.

For Egyptian dancers, I like Legends of Bellydance produced by Hollywood Music Center and Fifi Abdo's Concert at al Esmailia.

I love IAMED's 007 and Belly Dance Live!
Delilah's Fire at the IAO
Suzanna Del Vecchio has her two performance dvd's on one now. Wonderful!
Alexandra King has an excellent performance DVD, as well as Margo Abdo O'dell.

I tend to like Am-Cab :O) in-case you hadn't noticed.

Also, you can just scan youtube's for some great belly dance performances.

I forgot to mention these:

Tamalyn Dallal (I forget the name, but it's the one with the multi-colored veil on the cover), and Bozenka's performance dvds are excellent!

Saida's dvd's (you have to get off ebay if you live in the U.S.) are my current favorites! I love her!

If your interested in Turkish, both Eva Cernick and Artemis have WONDERFUL performance DVD's!!!! Eva does the best fire dance ever on her first video. :O)

Thanks! Khalida, I love Tito, Virginia, Suhaila, Sadie, Jillina, Sohair Zaki, and I love to watch the Adam Basma shows, they use such extravagant costumes!

For up and coming dancers, I like "By Dancers for Dancers" and IAMED's Belly Dance O-Rama (there are some old favorites on the IAMED DVD, but some new faces that are really worth seeing, too!)

I second the Bozenka performance DVDs. I never get tired of watching them. I also like the For Dancers By Dancers series and Ansuya's Live at Al Amir.

Oh yeah, Mathkitty! Ansuya's Live at Al Amir is one of my favorites!

Dina in Monte Carlo and Fifi Abdu in Esmailia. They are my absolute favorite.

Here´s one I LOVED and watched over and over again,

It contains:
Aida Nour:over 30 minutes show,
Lucy:about 40 minutes show,
Sahar Hamdy:cult footage,much debated clip,worth to have.
Shushu Ameen at her absolute BEST!(about 25 min)
An amazing mature bellydancer who OWNS the stage!
Don´t look at the clips with her on YouTube,buy this.
Safa Saeed:about 20 minute show with good egyptian style dancing(she is one of the "mystery dancers"many asks about)

It´s crazy cheap for a DVD with 4 show programs of egyptian dancers.


Also I really recommend "Nadia Gamal-The Legend".

Although I don´t dance or train her style,
it´s another DVD that shows an example of a full show with many components:magency(entrée),veil,taksim,zils,assaya ,different folkloric styles,audience participation and more...


This is the show that Nadia dances to the theme of "Bonanza",
and wipes a sweaty admirer with his own tie:D

I really like Exotic Bellydance from Hollywood Music Center. Bad title, but good dancing.

Anything with Aza Sherif in it. Dina in Los Angeles. The Legends DVD never gets old for me, either.

Little Egypt--it's called Always Dina, from 2004. There's a taqsim in there that makes me cry happy tears every time I watch it ..g.:..cr.:..g.:
