Thread: Serena demonstrates 9/8 in 1975

In my video- I talked about how "Turkish style" was done in NYC in the 1970's. I had heard about it. I learned from people who danced then, but I never thought I would actually get to "SEE" it. But here it is - being taught by one of the leaders of belly dance!!!!!!!!!!

Cool. I especially liked the Eygptian Garden clip. It's so rare to see something from a live club from that era.

fabu!...her teaching the rythem is odd, BUT she keeps in the TRADITIONAL hop's!!!!!
to many try to modernize by teaching "low or no, impact 9/8"...it is not the real deal!
she is only teaching for 2 min..but she sure cleaned it up!
wonder if she tells you the meanings of all the signals on another segmant!
