    Paging Zorba-glass dancing video

Here's a vid of me from the FOlk Festival dancing on glasses,
the person who took the vid missed out on my big deal getting up on the glasses, but it's about 2 minutes of me dancing on them, then jumping off as gracefully as possible, and showing the audience it's real glass.

there's a great close up on my feet and the type of glasses I use.

I have a set of goblets - sherbet glasses actually, but haven't had much time to practice with them. So thanx for the inspiration. Were audience members impressed when you did your circuit with them after your dance?

Very.......I think it's important to show the audience that they are "real" glasses, not a trick.

    Yes.

What I've read is that performers usually clink the glasses BEFORE the performance so the audience knows they're "real" while the dancer is on them. Thoughts?

I'd be afraid to CLINK them, because they might fracture, and a small crack or fracture can turn into a big one.

I make a big show of showing them in the beginning, then placing, etc.

Also at the end, showing the audience and letting them touch them so they know they are real glass.

It's been a long time since I've seen someone do that. My friend Nagwa Al Qamar used to dance on glasses. She used a similar type glass.

I have a video of me dancing at a Greek restaurant in California. After my show the owner would come out and do a table dance. He would pick up the table with his teeth. I was so mad that the person stopped taping and didn't record his show.

Maria, I really liked the music you chose for this dance! You have a very impressive sense of balance.
