Thread: Samia Gamal - can you reccommend a good article?

I'm looking for articles and information about the life and times of Samia Gamal. It was fortuitous timing that deannamari just shared those Life magazine photos of Samia. It reminded me what a great resource Bhuz can be. Now I need to look up the original article. I didn't even know Samia was in Life.

Anything y'all can share would rock. Online is great, in print is also great (I have no problems with traditional libraries), anything y'all can share to help me learn all about Samia Gamal would be great.

There is an article in The Belly Dance Book (edited by Tazz Richards) that has info about Samia Gamal and Tahia Carioca. I doubt this book would be in the library, but it can be purchased on Amazon.

FYI, you can almost always find the original Life magazine issue on Ebay. I once found a copy in a Goodwill, too!

The bellydance museum has some information on the dancers of this era. Not overwhelming, but could be a start.

Antique stores also have some vendor booths that specialize in Life Magazines & others. Usually around $10-$25 and up depending on the issue.
