Thread: ISO: More Dr. Mo

I just got the Oriental DVD with Dr. Mo, from the 2005 Little Egypt event. And, whew, I love it! Well, I think the videography is astonishingly bad, but I am totally taken by Dr. Mo and what he has to say - he is not just teaching a choreography, he tries to get a feel for the dance across, which is something I am very receptive for. (My husband is about as impressed with him as he was by Raqia in her pink spandex pants, though.)

Anyways, I was wondering what other Dr. Mo DVDs there are, anything other than the Little Egypt ones? And, if not, which of the LE ones are tolerable in terms of video quality?

And, taking this a little bit further, any other instructionals I should check out if I liked how he sprinkles in lecture bits?

His workshops in Brisbane with the Winter Warmup were recorded and Maria sells them - each is about a week (some years not all the material was available for those who did not attend the workshops). Not sure which ones she has left. Best to email her - they'll be in PAL if that makes any difference to DVDs.

I love Dr. Mo's videos. Little Egypt has a number of them and in my mind they are all good. I particularly like the baladi one he did this past spring.

I got one of these when Dr. Mo was selling them during the Little Egypt workshops . . . I think the one that I have is a goldmine . . . it isn't choreography as much as technique and it is the essence of how Dr. Mo teaches.

The one that I have is "Introduction to Geddawi Dance Technique Including Practical Exercises with Dr. Mo Geddawi" filmed at the 11th Annual Winter Warmup, July 2006.

Little Egypt website has posted info on the Dr. Mo, Randa Kamel, Nagwa Foud workshops in Miami in April!!!

Ah guys, thanks so much, esp. for checking w/ LE, that's so nice! Dr. Mo has such an enjoyable teaching style by including little lectures - I don't have access to this kind of information locally.

If you can wait, I'll run by the shop tommorrow . . . I had to leave a message on the phone. I know that LE is having a sale (check the website) but I don't know if the DVDs will be reduced much. Sometimes they are listed on the website to buy one for $60 and 2 for $100 . . . but mostly for the same year event.

And Dr. Mo LOVES to talk . . . so I enjoy what he has to say also during the workshops. So much so that I interview him for Gilded Serpent, hehe.

Hey, Steffib!! Little Egypt doesn't carry the Dr. Mo "Winter Warmup" vid . . . but she might get some copies from him in the future now that I brought it up.

FYI, She said that for the sale in a couple of weeks, she'll be making up DVD packages of Dr. Mo and many others like Dina, Randa, Aida, Magdy el Leisy etc . . . if I get more information about what is included I will pass it along but it will probably be better for you to email to ask too! Also, she is going to discount VHS 50% so that is an option too.

Sorry to hijack the thread but I would like to know if somebody of you knows if Balady Routine (from Dallas ACN 2008) and Authentic Modern Egyptian Beledi Routine (from Dallas 2008 with Fifi) offer the same choreography on the same music.

Anyone can help? From what I know, he taught on Hilwa Loaabi when Fifi came but what about what he taught as Balady for ACN in July 2008?
