eat your ham?
Hi
I have just returned from Egypt with the latest mix Cd's and there is a Hakim track which sounds like he says "eat your ham' ..l;, which is really boppy, i love it. Apart from that there were a few other random Hakim songs on the Cd's but none as catchy as this one.
Cheers
Julie

No worries!
We (a group of 8) went to the Nile Group fest, so stayed in the Pyramisa hotel for most of the time. Nice enough hotel. We also stayed in the Ramsis Hilton for a night. Beautiful hotel, and the Hilton shopping annex next door is a shoe junkies heaven.
My all time favourite hotel though is the Cairo Marriot in Zamalek. I just love the location. Zamalek has heaps of great restaurants.
Cheers

Song
This is not Hakim but Saad Al Soghrier . He just did a hit movie and Dina was in it. He is the new hot Egyptian Shabi singer and records for our company. We have released one CD and have two more coming. Very much like Hakim but even wilder on stage.

..l;, I know exactly the track you mean. I always thought it sounded like a salesman calling "get your ham", but we're pretty much on the same track.
The song's called "Eh Ya Amm", and is from the album Kolo YorossYou can listen to a little clip on Maqam: http://www.arabicmusiconline.com/MP3...I337927-03.mp3 [EDIT: Helps if I link to the RIGHT track! I'm such a loser!]
Saad el Soghayer does sound quite like Hakim, and is big at the moment. One of his songs that I heard absolutely EVERYWHERE one of the last times I was in Egypt was El Kalam A'aly Meen - it's pretty Saiidi heavy. Um... can't find a clip of it anywhere, but it repeats "El Kalam a'aly meen" lots of times in the chorus. Also it starts with guys with kind of synthy voices singing what sounds like some kind of weird be-boppy sounds like "Dab a-doo-bap doo-boo-dap doo-ba-ba-yeah-yeah!" Then voices come in saying: "Walla!... Walla walla walla walla!", after a few rounds of that the rebaba comes in. Um, OK my powers of description are a bit pants. It also has a really recognisable break where it sounds like they're asking: "Izzay...? Kidda ho! Izzay...? Kidda HO!"Last edited by wigglewhiz; 08-07-2007 at 03:34 PM. Reason: to improve my amazing song description!

Well, to be fair - last time I was in Egypt was over a year ago!
But it was being used for Tito's dancers and kept turning up everywhere else too! So I'm guessing it's certainly a crowd-pleaser! ..g.:

I bought a seriously dodgy CD in Sharm el Sheikh that was "Best Of Saad" apparently.
Now that he's on BDSS CD's and is under Mile's label as he mentioned, it should be much easier to get a hold of his music now.
I really like El Einab - but sadly, it wasn't on my dodgy CD. ..cr.:

The singer in the clip is Saad al Soghrier who records for my label. We have one album out plus two more coming. The songs are also available for download on the BDSS site. One song is on BDSS 4 and two will be on BDSS 5 (one of which Saad composed especially for us called Bellydance and is available nowhere else).
08-20-2007 11:42 AM #24Miles, looking forward to BDSS 5, is there any "traditional" "Classic" bd music on it.
I love the first 3 and often recommend them to my students. They usually buy out the stock in Borders in Boulder.

Yes we will have a broad selection including more "traditional" tracks on BDSS 5. If you are running a school and buy a quantity of CDs we have a service to supply schools directly at the wholesale price for them to sell to their students.
We will very shortly put up the entirely revamped BDSS web site which will have more music available for downloads and the facility to listen before purchase. We are trying to make more quality music available and easier to obtain.
08-20-2007 02:31 PM #26Great, the new CD sounds fantastic. What is your rate/quantiy/etc. that we would have to buy to re-sell?

We also have new Hakim tracks going up on itunes and the BDSS site in the next few days. These are the Hakim "Arabatone" or reggaetone meets Arab tracks incluldig the hit Tigi Tigi which is a duet with Reggaetone star Don Omar. All our tracks are downloadable on the BDSS site and when the new site is launched in a week or so you will be able to hear the song before you have to buy it.
