Thread: Movie with Ouled Nail coverage?

At the Aisha Ali workshop, Yasmin (I am sure my spelling is off - apologies!) reported that she has a movie that features old coverage of Ouled Nail performances. But, she didn't remember the name of the movie. Can anybody in Bhuz land help? Thanks!

There are dancers who certainly look like Oulaid Nail in "The Garden of Allah" with Marlene Dietrich and in "Gambit" Shirley MacLaine and Michale Caine dancers have similar costuming.
Back to the Dietrich film the main dancer does a dance with daggers and has a fabulous cirle skirt and the jewellery looks Kuchi but the background dancers ,who you don't see that much of have a distinct Ouliad look about them. I doubt very much that this is the movie you are interested in but both films are worth watching and accessable!

Oh, I added those two to my "to be watched" list ;-) But, I agree that these are most likely not it. The film I am after has several pieces of authentic Ouled Nail footage from pre-WWII.

There is a Walt Disney film, a documentary, I seem to recall, that has this, but I don't know the title.

The Man Who Would Be King has dancers who resemble Ouled Nayl but the setting is not N. Africa but the Himalayas or something like that.
