Re: Those wish-I-Hadn't moments!!
One of the first times I danced at a restaurant (filling in for a dancer who couldn't make it), the crowd was so damn dead that I jumped on a chair for an elongated drum solo lock/shimmy section for no reason other than to attempt to elicit SOME kind of reaction. Yes, it was caught on video. No, it made NO sense. No, I have never had the balls to watch that clip again! I was mortified when I saw the clip for the first time, so no repeats thankyouverymuch. And no more chairs!

Re: Those wish-I-Hadn't moments!!
Oh my God.
I have no video, but the moment is burned into my heart forever.
I had been dancing about six months or so, had attended my first workshop, which was totally out of my style (it was fusion, my style is about the fluffiest cab you could imagine) and learned a choreography.
I attempted to perform this choreography as my very first solo at a hafla.
Halfway through my solo, I had an asthma attack. I don't remember if I kept smiling while I struggled to breathe, but I DO remember screwing up the last half of the choreography, ending the piece 16 counts early, and attempting to do floorwork to fill those counts, which ended in that awkward swan posture I saw from Swan Lake, the one where the swan is bent forward with her arms behind her and her wrists really sharply bent.
They looked a lot better on the swans.
Everybody was really nice about it.

Re: Those wish-I-Hadn't moments!!
know what you mean- I hate watching videos of myself, but somehow I keep doing it. you'd think I'd learn
I have this weird habit of doing backbends when I panic or forget the choreography. okay in some costumes, but not in the halter top with the funky neckband that was just that smidge to tight- just about strangled myself...
also, tho not on video- not demanding the the restaurant owner sweep up the broken plates during a grand opening- thick soles & all, it was still WRONG- thank heavens for my dance buddy who pulled me aside at the first possible moment & made me wait for the cleaning crew- how does she pull off gracefully kidnapping the dancer? My admiration for her went up at least 20 points. I don't think well on adrenaline, apparently.

my newest one: i was on stage and i forgot a part of my "it'll-be-stage-ready-in-one-week" choreo. i remember i did this strange pharaonic arm thing and did this equally strange trevelling step...before i knew it, the song was over and the audience was clapping and cheering...(PHEW!)

..l;,..l;, What on earth made you think of the swan pose? Or were you accidentally caught by the music ending mid-transition? Or trying to bury your head under your wing? In any case, thank you for sharing your very amusing story! You are brave to have kept going through an asthma attack!

Costume malfunction

One thing I will not do is wear a costume, with my dance partner that does not fit on my body, and fits her.
I attempted to make something underneath a top that did not cover my whole chest. I only had a day to do it and it came out all wrong, so I had no time to change it. While dancing it kept riding up. When I shimmied I had to keep pulling it down. Furthermore, we wore skirts with splits and because she didn't like harem pants, I went just with my boy shorts underneath. When I did a hip circle my bootay kept peaking out through the splits.
My instructor said she didn't notice me pulling at my top, but it the video I noticed it several times. ..l;,
