Greek Tsifteteli
Lately, I have been watching a lot of Greek Tsifteteli YouTube bellydance videos. I really love the look of this style, and it has inspired me to learn more about it.
The problem is, is whenever I Google "tsifteteli" or "how to dance tsifteteli" I don't get all that much. Just a few dance videos, and occasionally websites that talk about Greek culture where Tsifteteli is mentioned.
Can anyone give any advice on how to give my dance more of a Greek feel? Such as what sort of moves to do? Or what kind of technique to use?
Thanks! ..g.:

Have you seen this website yet? Here is the link:
What is Tsifteteli?
I have a male friend who is Greek and says there is no such thing as Greek Belly Dance and tsifteteli is just moving your hips for girls/women. He didn't have much information other than that. This article may help you... hopefully.Last edited by Jaseena; 03-06-2009 at 04:03 AM.

Re: Greek Tsifteteli
in my past experiance with live music, greek and turkish chifti's are much faster than the rest.sometimes on the frantic side, to the untrained ear.the "busy" is just that, they sound busy , filled in, next to an egyptian chifti..

Re: Greek Tsifteteli
Deborah, belly dancing came to Greece via the Turks, I think you are right!
But since then Greek tsifteteli has developed it's own style. Just like Lebanese belly dance is different from Egyptian belly dance, or Turkish is different from both of these.
This is more what I was asking about. :)
Thanks! That was an interesting read.Have you seen this website yet? Here is the link:
