Thread: Ranyas Baladi Taqsim dvd Make over clips!

So I see that a lot of dances have this amazing DVD. I think it would be fun to see video clips of dancer dancing to baladi, after you have worked with the DVD a bit. I'll go first! This clip is from a show I danced in 2 weeks ago. I have been dancing to these songs for a long time so its like this was totally brand new, but I do think I have improved greatly due to the DVD. I actually straight up jacked the hoppy skippy move from Ranya's DVD.
Note, this is not a straight baladi progression, it is a mix of 3 baladi songs. Any please comment, I'd like to improve all I can.

Interesting idea - I'll work with it for another few weeks and I am doing baladi at another show - I'll try to get it videotaped. I was so inspired by the DVD that I wanted to do baladi at every show, but it seems that a lot of people feel that way, so I'm holding back!

Thanks for sharing this video! I really enjoyed it, the hoppy skippy step is cute. I'm using the 3rd song in your piece tonight, I've been obsessing on it for weeks now.

Loved it, Toria. I think this is a wonderful idea. I have a couple of performances coming up where I will be doing baladi and hope to have some video to share soon.

Well I passed the camera off to my dad and he didn't tape that part. It was also very dark and he kept flipping orientations of the camera while filming. So its amusing but not very productive to watch. lol

Toria, that was great! Fabulous dancing, excellent mix of moves, great musical interpretation, beautiful arms. The only thing I noticed was that when you travel around the dance floor it's pretty much always in circle, and in the same direction, too. I found myself wanting to see you travel forward and back, or diagonally to the corners, for a change. My brain must like to see patterns!
