Thread: Ranya's Baladi teleconference

Hi there!

OK, so things are moving on the Ranya-finds-a-new-place-to-live front... There is a chance we would be able to do this Wednesday 4/22, and if not, then next Wednesday 4/29 should work. So, Souzan, maybe you could try to get a consensus on those. Of those two dates, probably the later one is safer, but i'd know by this monday at any rate.

And if any of you want to join in on this weekend's teleconferences, those are on and there is some space--you can email me at ranya@ranya.net for info if you need it, or visit Bellydance New York City - Ranya Renee & Company - Belly Dance Classes and Peformances for the times/days. Looking forward to discussing dance after a few weeks of discussing fire!! :-D

The last time I talked to them, everyone who was signed up for April first wanted to stick with a Wednesday at the original time. So if the 29th is better for you, then lets do that. I will email all concerned. Unfortunately this weekend doesn;t work for me as I have something going on at each of the times.

Souzan, are we still shooting for 10-11pm EST? That being 7-8pm Pacific..? And is this just baladi, or are we also going to do the Modern Oriental, perhaps from 11-midnight EST?

The time slot I am setting up with her is for the baladi as a makeup for the one that was cancelled. But I need to do the Modern as well since the dates so far haven't worked. I'll ask her but its up to Ranya. Yes 10 to 11 EDT. Going past minute might be too late for her. But I'll ask.

my *preference* would be to do just baladi that night... but whatever is best for everyone, of course!

Personally, that is my preference as well. I need to get to work early the next morning and I know I won't be able to go to sleep after the teleconference.

Hi gang,

Well, i had a very enjoyable weekend of giving teleconferences--it was so cool to connect with dancers by voice--from as far away as Alaska and France! I hope it was useful for everyone. I did record the conferences and they will be edited when i have a chance, so that folks who can't find a convenient time to call in can still benefit from the material covered.

I just need to confirm my moving date from this hotel into my new temporary apartment. Fun! Then we can set the Wed. teleconference date--this Wed. would probably be ok, but it may be too short notice for some--so either 4/29 or 5/6 seems better; this one would just be for Baladi, 10-11pm eastern time (although we could run a few minutes over that). I'll set some more times for May also, so please weigh in on preferred days/times, folks! :-D Look forward to speaking with you.

Bet you are happy to get out of the hotel! April 29 would be great. Some of our original April 1 folks could not make May 6. I will contact all of them tonight and get back with you. But I think the 29th would be fine. That will give you time to get settled into your new apt and for everyone to get ready for the teleconference!

I just did the Baladi teleconference yesterday and I really benefited from it. It sure was great chatting with other dancers (I'm pretty isolated here) and hearing an accomplished dancer talk about my favourite thing (MED) one-on-six was very cool.
The thing that really stuck out for me and that I will start applying conciously to my dance will be BREATH. Ranya talked a lot about using breath to connect to the audience, generate movements and as an essential part of the wholistic approach to dance. I hope I paraphrased that right but I that's how it came across to me.
She is super great and I can't wait for the next teleconferences. What a cool idea!
