    Turkish Bellydance Group

    Hello everyone,

I guess this is Turkish version of Bellydance Superstars, but maybe they were earlier in Turkey than Bellydance Superstars..g.: What do you guys think about them? Do you guys think that Bellydance Superstars have better choreos and technique than Turkish group does?

    Re: Turkish Bellydance Group

they are very very popular in Turkey and among Europe...
THey dont do only belly dance, and dancers are trained in many different styles...so their belly dance performance is to rough for my taste...I like mix of classical, old era and also modern together....
The group is quite large and also tours around Europe. Their shows are very professional and dynamic
They use elements of Anatolia and make it a huge stage show
I heard the creator of the group has MBA and this was his vision
I read their technical contract, oh mineeeee
every little detail even their diet was strictly written down.

    Re: Turkish Bellydance Group

Anatolian Fire is very big dance project that I would refer more to Caracalla or even Riverdance than to Bellydance Superstars as bellydance plays very small part of the show (and is not nearly the best part - I was most impressed with Black Sea horon dances, which were not too "balletizised"... they are very professional and shows are spectacular but it is more ballet mixed staged folkdances (hmm, i would not refer this however to Reda)

    Their website: http://www.fireofanatolia.com/

    And their latest show: http://www.troyshow.com/

Too bad their touring seems to concentrate just in Europe...

there is also night of the sultans but im not sure if theyre the same group? their show "pandora" was pretty good, but i agree, the bellydance is pretty rough around the edges - the men were FANTASTIC at karadeniz though ;)

    Hi Aasyah,

I agree, their bellydancing is rough around the edges, I guess they are more like entertainment/group dancing kind of thing, but they do not emphasize traditional or ethnic style of dancing, but of course the elements of traditional bellydance and ethnic style are there.

    Hugs,
    Amani

P.S. Love that avatar pic of you. You look very pretty ..g.:

hehe thanks for the compliment:) you know theyre really good at some of the more folkloric styles (modernized of course) but the bellydancing seems to be the weak point in their show.

Not just compliment I really mean it ..g.: I guess the drum part where they have soloist dancing, her shimmies and accents are kind of weak, but overall presentation is quite Vegas-y and flashy. I wonder if there are any videos of them doing folk dancing.

    Re: Turkish Bellydance Group

You can find tons of their clips at Youtube (and some also in their website I linked above) just by searching with keywords "Anatolian Fire", "Anadolu Ates", "Sultans of the Dance" etc... and those clips are mostly folkloric. Best of all are Blacksea horon dances, which are not really much theatrilized even though they may look so as they dance so in unison and somehow resemble Riverdance (and these are also definately best when just men are dancing... actually there is version of horon danced by ladies too but it is slightly different so ladies dancing quick male dance in miniskirts just does not feel so right while men in black pants and white shirts are exactly how it is danced also "traditionally")

Sorry cannot link here any youtube clips as cannot access it from office

I enjoyed the clip...interesting floor patterns and also really dramatic with so many dancers on stage. Some of the movements were a bit too large for my liking but overall, fun to watch!
