    Song ID: Banat el Shobora

One of my classes is using a song called Banat el Shobora, but the instructor found it on an unlabeled (not even in Arabic!) mix cd so we don't know who it is by, let alone what it might be about. Is anybody familiar with a song by that name? It's very shaabi, and after doing some googling I assume Shobora refers to Shobra...

(I'm working on building up all my old stars back today, I wanna be official or established or whatever! ..g.: )

I have not heard the song but Banat el Shobora means "The Shobra Girls" .. Shobra is considered a very "beledy" section in Cairo.. working class etc. It would be interesting to hear the song..

    Banat el Shobra

    Hi!
The song Banat el Shobra (also written Shubra) is from a popular egyptian singer named Rico/Riko.
I found the song on www.6arab.com if I remember well.
An Egyptian friend told me that the song is about the girls of the neighbourhood of Shobra that are hot and everybody there is partying, take drugs...
    That's what I know.

    Yeah, it's Rico.

I love that song! He has pretty good videos, too. One I saw (back in 2004, I think for a different song) had a dancer doing shemedan.

Yes, I have that exact song. It translates to the girls of Shobra. A lot of the lyrics is about how pretty the girls from Shobra are-Shobra is a big suburb of Cairo. My dad happens to like that song a lot since he was born in Shobra. I have it on a CD that I bought from a street vendor in Cairo. Its labelled and has a photo of one of the Victoria Secret models on the cover (which makes no sense, its obviously a pirated album).
