Thread: Shoo Shoo Amin clip on YouTube

In preparation for Leila's camp at Dahab Egypt in May, where Shoo Shoo will be teaching shimmies, entrances and the zar, I have put up a page about her on my web site and a medley of her shows on YouTube. She was an extraordinary dancer. It is too bad there isn't more about her, but I'm trying to rectify that.

Incredible dancing, and I can understand why they compared her to Souheir Zaki! How much longer do we have to wait until 18" fringe comes back in style?

*sigh* Shoo Shoo was (and IS) an amazing dancer.
I had the honor of taking a private from her last year in Egypt - she was lovely and kind. We went over structure for a full show improv style. She gave good feedback and was simply wonderful! I SO recommend going to this event!!!

Truly. Long fringe and large jewels are in short supply right now because the designers are doing the bare minimum look. It's a simple case of supply and demand. I personally LOVE fringe. It really showcases a dancers hipwork and is beautiful to look at it. I hope this minimalist costuming phase goes bye bye real soon!

Hopefully next week Leila will have the web site up for it. It will only be for 100 dancers - almost half the slots are already taken. This is the tentative flier text she sent me. It hasn't been officially launched yet, but the ladies already coming wanted to see Shoo Shoo and there was nothing online.

Sounds enticing, but we stay in tents???? Camping? I'm a city girl. It does sound tempting though. Especially the beach. Mmmmmm. Must consider.

Here is the "almost" functional site for the camp. Everything is working except *sigh* the registration form. But since you all expressed interest I wanted to give you the info. I think there are 30 spots left now.

When the site is completely working I will start to advertise it.

Sigh. I'd love to go. She's one of my favorites. I just don't know right now. I"ve spent a fortune in vet bills and they are still ongoing. I may get a decent bonus in March so I can't make decision until then and all the spots may be gone. Sigh. It sucks sometimes to be an older responsible adult with commitments and obligations. In my 20's I'd have booked immediately!

I do know what you're talking about. I've had to wait for my kids to grow up before my responsibilities got lighter. Now that we've gotten her out of retirement hopefully we will be able to film her, and there will be other times that she will teach. Next time, insha'allah. Hopefully when the economy is better.
