Thread: what makes Mona el Said Mona

I'm currently in cold-land at home but this gives me a good reason to really get into an assignment I have on hand. I'd like to hear your thoughts on the great Mona el Said. What makes her movements/style unique? What are her signature moves? Do you like her style? Why or why not?

I'll say a little something first. Every time I watch Mona I see queenliness. Not aloof queenliness, but she has this wonderful carriage that is so stately. Her overall style is one of understatement, at least to me. She is not one to over dance. I don't find her boring or simple though, because she seems to radiate joy and fun and feeling whenever she dances, and that captures my attention. Even when she lets really lets loose, she is so precisely on beat, she never gets out of control.

I think she has beautiful arms and hands and I would say one of her signature moves is her torso/belly pops.

I would add "earthiness" to your description.

I always think of her huge smile. With that smile, she can get away with murder!

She is very cheeky and very sexy. Like a queen, yes, but definitely no aristocrat

Typical in my eyes are also some fast arm moves which I'm not so fond of.

She also is confident enough to be a little quirky if it suits her to be so.
Gotta love it.
Watch her and you will begin to recognize that she has definately been a strong influence on many dancers that have since followed on the popular scene.

Complete and utter confidence was what sprang to my mind. Sweet confidence born of joy and love for the music, though, not born of arrogance.

She is one of the best dancers of Middle East !

For me she have from the most clear teqnicks, you can actually see what's she is doing.
And her Aura !!!!
