I'm making a playlist for my technique class as we are about to start on Baladi Taksims aka Baladi Progressions and I'd love to add a few more really inspirational clips. Here is the list I have so far:

pardon for posting my own clip, but your students might love this music. its called "disco al sharki" i think you can find it on the "doki ya maziki" album and a few other compilations. the musical piece is attributed to nagua fouad

Of course Mona is wonderful! When I've taught beledi progression in the past, I always give my students youtube clips to watch and decide whether the performance is beledi or not beledi. The dancer who is consistently rated highest is Miasia. She rocks!

I'd love to post Najla from Slovakia, she's really good at baladi but she doesn't have an upload of taqsim baladi...

Her Tahtil Shibbak is beautiful, well and Ranya Renée has a great Tahtil Shibbak online too.

Thanks for the props Nazirah, I wish I had the full section of that show, the video camera stopped working and I don't have the rest of that performance ..cr.: It's always interesting to work with a band for the first time, and see what comes out of it!

Green one. I liked it at the time; now not so much.

I need to figure out how to freaking rip DVD onto my computer so I can upload my Fifi weekend performance to youtube. Now THAT is one of my favorites.
